The art is the 'Red Head of Death'--Once upon a time I sat down to think up what I think Death would look like, and of course to start, it would be a red head:) After that it all goes downhill as her bird tells her of your demise, and her centipede friend starts to drool at the promise of eating your body after it's been poisoned by all of her pretty little shrooms. Yes, except for the turkey tails on the more nourishing part of her body, all of those shrooms will kill you. Doesn't mean it's exactly a painful death, just one born of the more quiet sounds of nature. I initially sat down and wrote out my experiences with death in my life and then thought of what Death would look like as a more natural character, rather than some dude in a bathrobe with a reaper blade, and low and behold, this beauty was born. Or, well, rather brought into the realm of canvas and paint billions of years after her first day on the job. Hope you enjoy!

Got to do a really cool project for Flogging Molly! I painted up a guitar for them for their charity auction that took place on their Salty Dog Cruise last week. Thanks to Punk Rock and Paintbrushes for lining this up—it was cooler than words. I’ve been wanting to get into painting custom guitars and the like, and this was an amazing kick off! Hope everyone is doing well! I’ve been quiet on social lately as I’m writing 2 books, catching up with commissions and getting ready for the big holiday push:). Cheers!

I’ll be streaming the coloring process on Twitch over the next few weeks (schedule tba) I’m also excited to debut some of the finished work on a special livestream Zippo and I will be doing April 19th! Hellllooo Zippo! Had an amazing first day with Zippo meeting with the licensing, social media, marketing and the all mighty design center depts. to talk about all things Zippo and Dietrich art! Tomorrow it’s off to the factory and the museum!

NEW ART!— Teasing out another new one that I’m about to paint, if you remember my painting ‘Gifts From the Sea’, this is kind of a 2.0 version of that rum running mermaid who dips into the stray bottle maybe a little too much:). Arm feels much better—I’m sitting in the Seattle airport at 5am waiting for my flight out to the East Coast to meet with Zippo, tour the factory/museum and to talk with them about some cool upcoming projects. I’ll be streaming all of these paintings as well on Twitch when I get back from this trip so stay tuned!

NEW ART TEASE! ‘THE REDHEAD OF DEATH’ — So I’ve been pretty quiet lately about what I’ve been working on because I haven’t been working on sh*t—I’ve been nursing a pinched nerve in my drawing arm (OUCH!), and let me tell you, pinched nerves are a big f’king waste of time. BUT, before I went down in flames for the month, I did manage to work on some sketches for some new paintings, and I’m going to show them off over the next few weeks. The Redhead of Death is the first of many paintings that will take me back into the realm of pinup/goddess style, after many years off working on the Alice stuff and my own product line. I know there’s been an insane amount of requests for this stuff, so here she is! Covered in mushrooms (some real , some imaginary) that will all kill you, and being comforted by her giant centipede boa, our redhead represents all that is deadly in nature, and not death from war or drugs or murder.
