Having fun feeling like a kid again
When was the last time you felt like a kid? ⠀ Body boarding with my boys was so much fun! I felt like a kid again, instantly like I did back when I was their age! ⠀ Life can be so stressful and hard at times, which is why I want you to be intentional about having fun. ⠀ Having fun increases your serotonin levels, which helps you sleep better, have better moods, and even impacts your appetite (low serotonin can increase your appetite and even trigger cravings). As women we can experience changes in serotonin levels as estrogen levels fluctuate throughout the month and as we transition into peri-menopause. ⠀ I always want you to know how you can naturally change your hormonal state and sometimes it is the simplest, 𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙚 things like laughing and having fun. Even when you’re feeling like you’re too stressed to have fun. It can improve your ability to cope, boost your energy, and make getting and staying healthier easier. ⠀ Happy Friday! You know that consistency is everything but what if you’re traveling? Learning to wake surf this week has been so much fun!
As a working mom my stress level always seems to creep up so much higher than I want it to be. I have to be intentional about counterbalancing the stress in my life with healthy ways to get out of living in fight & flight mode. ⠀ Eating healthy, quality sleep, appropriate exercise and HAVING FUN all impact our ability to stay healthy despite inevitable stress. ⠀ Learning to wake surf this week has been so much fun! ⠀ Playing, getting outside, and having fun are my favorite ways to de-stress after a long week. ⠀ Do you notice you just feel better overall after having fun?

The time my kids almost had to pay for the tutor

Valentines 💘 is the perfect time to enjoy quality chocolate. Unfortunately many commercial chocolates are filled with sugar that can make us feel mood and energy spikes and crashes and even diary that can cause bloating and breakouts. ⠀ The good news is there are so many healthy alternatives, so you can enjoy chocolate treats and still feel great afterwards. @lilys_sweets have my favorite chocolate chips and bars for baking. They do not have sugar, but are made with stevia so you can avoid the sugar crashes. Another perk is that it doesn’t cause craving for more and more sugar, but allows you to still enjoy something sweet. ⠀ I also love @evolvedchocolate because they are sweetened with coconut sugar instead of refined sugar. Coconut sugar is healthier than refined sugar because it is not as processed, doesn’t raise blood sugar as high as table sugar, and has small amounts of minerals, antioxidants, and fiber.
