I’m often asked, “Is this therapy?” The short answer is no. According to the International Coaching Federation, coaching is a process-driven partnership, one that is thought-provoking and creative to inspire individuals to reach their full potential.
Sharing a great illustration / explanation from which clearly defines the difference in a cohesive manner.

A simple hello can brighten someone's day☀️
Have you ever been on a walk where you greet the people passing by with a "good morning" and a smile and you receive nothing in return? Puzzling, isn't it?
Whether we're walking along a peaceful trail, strolling on the beach or in our communities, taking a moment to say "good morning" or "hello" to those we pass can add warmth to the experience. It's a small gesture, but it builds a sense of connection and community in our shared spaces. Our connection with others plays a crucial role in supporting our mental and emotional well-being, as well as our resilience.
Next time you're outside make it a point to greet fellow walkers. You never know how much a friendly word can brighten someone's day---yours included!
Digging deeper in to Mindfulness!
The benefits are numerous and can positively impact various aspects of your life. Practicing mindfulness can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve focus and concentration, enhance self-awareness, promote emotional regulation, and foster a greater sense of overall well-being. By being present in the moment and cultivating a non-judgmental attitude, you can experience greater clarity, resilience, and a deeper connection with yourself and others. Incorporating mindfulness into your daily routine can lead to a more balanced and fulfilling life.

In honor of Mental Heath Awareness Month I'm sharing some information about
"Mindfulness". In the attached photos you'll find some simple exercises which can be practiced on your own whether outdoors, at home or any setting.
While there is no universal definition of “mindfulness,” Jon Kabat-Zinn (1990, p. 4) describes it as “paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgementally.”
Mindfulness is a technique you can learn which involves focus, and noticing what's happening in the present moment, without judgement. You might take notice and be aware of your mind, body or surroundings. We can connect more peacefully to our emotions, physical body sensations and also what is happening around us. Through the practice of mindfulness, it becomes easier to experience the moments in life that matter and find a deeper sense of appreciation and connection with ourselves and others. Mindfulness affects the way we see ourselves, it enhances relationships, contributes to stress reduction and in turn makes us more resilient!
I truly appreciate La Costa Neighbors Magazine for capturing the essence of my journey in to Coaching and its purpose.
Gratitude is essential to our resilience because it helps us focus on the positive aspects of our lives, even during challenging times. Practicing gratitude shifts focus to what we have, boosting mood and well-being. It strengthens relationships, fosters connection, helps cope with stress, and promotes resilience. Remember: Building resilience is about DOING IT, not just reading about it...so pick one exercise and give it a try! Sample entries for a journal: 1) Reflect and write about something that made you happy today, 2) Reflect and write about something nice you did for someone else today, 3) Reflect and write about something nice someone else did for you today ✨

Building confidence is an essential aspect of personal development. It involves recognizing your strengths, setting achievable goals, and pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone. Embracing challenges, reaching out for help, celebrating small victories, and practicing self-care are all effective ways to boost your confidence.

(COMPETENCE Building Skills)
We have the power to change only the things within our control.
"COMPETENCE": The first in our series exploring the 7 C's of Resilience as developed by Pediatrician, Dr. Kenneth Ginsburg. The 7 C's model provides a practical approach for parents and communities to prepare children and teens to thrive.
Building resilience in children and teens can help to reduce stress levels, anxiety and adverse reactions in times of uncertainty and change. Resilience building opportunities present themselves from an early age, and if exercised, can help children and teens to manage their feelings, use healthy coping strategies and be better prepared to thrive when faced with challenging times.
Dr. Kenneth Ginsburg, a pediatrician specializing in adolescent medicine at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, identified “7 C's of resilience.”
Stay tuned for a series as I explore the specific ways we can help our children develop their resilience based on the concept of the "7 C's of resilience" as reflected in the graphic below.
What is RESILIENCE?
Resilience is associated with the ability to effectively cope and adapt while experiencing negative life events or challenges. Resilience lives in everyone, however, we can all benefit from learning evidence based skills, strategies and coping techniques. It is vital not to just "ENDURE" stressful times but instead, tap in to your strengths, values and resources to ensure you "THRIVE" while faced with adversity in your daily lives.
What are the first steps to building RESILIENCE?
Knowing yourself and being able to understand, recognize, communicate and respond to your feelings. Many people struggle to find the right word to "express" how they feel in a given moment. This emotional awareness can be learned over time, just like all other abilities.
"The Feeling Wheel" pictured here by Gloria Wilcox is a great tool to begin to develop awareness to your feelings or emotions. Instructions for how to use the wheel are pictured here as well.
I invite you to reach out to me directly for additional ways to use The Feeling Wheel, and for more information regarding my Coaching programs.
