— Circadian Rhythms — .
Did you know that getting early morning sunlight directly into your eyes significantly impacts the health of your circadian rhythms? ☀️ .
This is important for several reasons including hormone health and healthy sleep. Aim for 10 minutes first thing in the morning without sunglasses. 🚫😎 .
Circadian rhythms are 24 hour cycles that are part of the body’s internal clock - they help carry out essential functions and processes. Circadian rhythms are connected to a master clock within the hypothalamus in your brain. This clock is highly sensitive to light, which is why circadian rhythms are closely connected to day and night. Many people have heard of circadian rhythms in the context of affecting our sleep. I’m not going to list all of the reasons why healthy sleep is important here - the bottom line is that healthy sleep is one of the most important things you should care about if you want to feel good and have health longevity. .
Did you know that circadian rhythms also influence our mental health, including the risk of illnesses such as depression and bipolar disease? They also impact our metabolism and weight through the regulation of blood sugar and cholesterol. Paying attention to them and optimizing them is very significant for so many reasons! .
Tomorrow morning when you wake up, support your health by getting outside for some direct sun eyeball lovin. .
Creating healthy sleep hygiene is one of my favorite things to work on with my clients. Cheers to new healthy habits! . .

— Thirsty Much? — .
Did you know that the majority of people are fairly dehydrated and don’t know it? .
I know what you’re thinking… I’m fine and I drink enough water and I already know water is important. .
Did you know that your body is around 60% water? And that your brain is about 78% water? Given those numbers it’s no surprise that water impacts literally every function in your body. .
💦 significantly affects energy levels and brain function
💦 helps maximize physical performance
💦 supports optimal digestion
💦 helps prevent headaches
💦 can relieve and help prevent constipation
💦 can help support weight loss
💦 supports your body’s detoxification processes .
How much should you drink? A common guideline you may have heard of is to drink half of your body weight in ounces of water. That’s a decent baseline as a minimum amount of water for most people. .
Another approach is to drink 1 ounce for every pound of body weight. In my opinion drinking more water than what is minimally needed is ideal. Especially if you exercise regularly or are at all physically active. .
Hydrate before you caffeinate. I always recommend that my clients drink at least a couple glasses of water before having coffee. Caffeine dehydrates your body. .
Speaking of dehydration - everyone should drink several glasses of water in the morning after waking up, ideally before consuming anything else. Your body is already slightly dehydrated from not having any water all night. .
Drinking more water when you’re sick is also important as it helps your body to eliminate toxins that are byproducts of bacterial or viral infections. .
Pro tip - Use a 1 L reusable water bottle and drink all of your water from that one bottle. Take it everywhere with you.. 90% of people over estimate how much they actually drink. .
So many reasons to drink up. Any questions? Hit me in the comments💡 . .

— Eat To Gain Health — .
Often times people get confused about nutrition and understandably so. With so many gimmicks and fads circulating, and a new popular “diet” every month, it’s hard to know how to eat well to keep yourself healthy and feeling good. .
Food is powerful and is the largest factor in your control that can improve your health and wellness. Your energy, how you feel in your body, how well you move, how clearly you think… all of that is in your control and it starts with what you’re putting into your body. .
My 30 Day Glow Up Challenge is a whole body nutrition reset. It’s an easy to follow program that gives your body tons of nutrients while eliminating inflammatory foods and food products. It is not a diet but rather a healthy way of eating long term that also allows room for things you might consider to be treats. You’ll learn what foods to eat more of and which foods to minimize. You’ll also be able to identify potential food sensitivities or allergies. .
I’ve been a Nutrition and Health coach for over two years and my passion for helping people feel amazing is everything! I’ve coached 95 people through this program! Happy to share some epic testimonials with you if you’d like. .
Reach out and and let’s chat! Happy to answer any questions and tell you more about the program. . .

— Glycemic Index, Inflammation, & Health — .
Long read… hang tight as its important information if you are trying to eat well and maintain health and wellness. .
You may have heard the terms “low glycemic” or “glycemic index” before, but what do they actually mean and why should you care? .
The glycemic index is a measure of how quickly and significantly a given food can raise your blood sugar, also known as glucose. When you eat food, the carbohydrates in that food are converted into glucose in your blood. The lower a food’s glycemic index, the slower your blood sugar will rise. In general, the more processed a food is, the higher its GI. Foods that are less processed, and foods that have more fiber, tend to have a lower GI. .
When your blood sugar rises your body produces insulin, which is a hormone that allows glucose to enter your cells to provide energy. Insulin also helps store excess glucose in your liver and muscles as glycogen (to be used later for energy). .
Why does any of this matter!? .
Constantly spiking your insulin levels high has been correlated to high inflammatory markers in your blood and cerebral fluid. High levels of inflammation in the body leads to the majority of metabolic disorders. And guess what? Metabolic disorders are the largest group of diseases and dysfunction in the body! The majority of them are also preventable. .
So… what are metabolic disorders? They are disorders that negatively alter the body's processing and distribution of macronutrients such as proteins, fats, and carbohydrates… in other words, they negatively alter the processes your body uses to get or make energy from the food you eat. And guess what that means? It means that metabolic disorders affect every single function of your body! Probably something you should take seriously. .
Whew! That was a lot! Cheers to you if you are still reading… .
Some examples of metabolic / inflammatory related disorders are diabetes, arthritis, gout, heart disease, degenerative joint problems, high blood pressure, PCOS (polycystic ovarian disease), infertility, memory loss, and the list goes on. .
The food you eat literally impacts every single cell and function in your body. .
The moral of this story is: if you want to feel good and live a healthy life, do everything in your power to keep inflammation in your body low. .
Yes, there are many other factors that contribute to inflammation in your body including stress, lack of sleep, and exposure to toxins. The food you eat is easily one of the biggest factors that you have control over. Consuming low glycemic whole foods (and therefore managing your body’s insulin load), while avoiding processed crap as much as possible, is a huge step in the right direction. .
Let’s gooo fam - glow up! .
