Ccrown
a circular ornamental headdress worn by a monarch as a symbol of authority, usually made of or decorated with precious metals and jewels.
St Edward's Crown
St Edward's Crown is the centrepiece of the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom. Named after Saint Edward the Confessor, versions of it have traditionally been used to crown English and British monarchs at their coronations since the 13th century.
Heraldic Crown of Bulgaria
Heraldic royal crown with eight half-arches. Five half-arches its two-dimensional representation. Replica of original medieval crown kept in Bulgaria's National Historical Museum
A crown is often an emblem of a sovereign state, usually a monarchy (see The Crown), but also used by some republics.
A specific type of crown is employed in heraldry under strict rules. Indeed, some monarchies never had a physical crown, just a heraldic representation, as in the constitutional kingdom of Belgium.
Crowns are also often used as symbols of religious status or veneration, by divinities (or their representation such as a statue) or by their representatives, e.g. the Black Crown of the Karmapa Lama, sometimes used a model for wider use by devotees.
A crown can be a charge in a coat of arms, or set atop the shield to signify the status of its owner, as with the coat of arms of Norway.
CROWN
A crown is a traditional form of head adornment, or hat, worn by monarchs as a symbol of their power and dignity. A crown is often, by extension, a symbol of the monarch's government or items endorsed by it. The word itself is used, particularly in Commonwealth countries, as an abstract name for the monarchy itself, as distinct from the individual who inhabits it (that is, The Crown). A specific type of crown (or coronet for lower ranks of peerage) is employed in heraldry under strict rules. Indeed, some monarchies never had a physical crown, just a heraldic representation, as in the constitutional kingdom of Belgium, where no coronation ever took place; the royal installation is done by a solemn oath in parliament, wearing a military uniform: the King is not acknowledged as by divine right, but assumes the only hereditary public office in the service of the law; so he in turn will swear in all members of "his" federal government.
The Miss Universe PH 2022 Crown
Revealed during the pageant's gala night held this April 19, the La Mer en Majeste Crown will be perched on the head of our next Miss Universe Philippines. According to Jewelmer, the craftsmen behind it, the piece is a "tribute to the vibrant culture and history of the Philippines."
"In French, when the word 'majesty' is used with that of the sea, it evokes respect and admiration for the water element and its many wondrous qualities. The sea is both artist and muse, paying tribute to its mystery and nurturing power," they further explain.
Queen Victoria’s Emerald and Diamond Tiara
was designed by Prince Albert in Gothic Revival style for Queen Victoria in 1845, crafted by crown jeweler Joseph Kitching. Sotheby’s reports that this tiara is widely seen as one of the most elegant and sumptuous colored gemstone tiaras created anywhere in the world. Set in gold, it has cushion-shaped diamonds interspersed with step-cut emeralds lined across its base, topped by further diamonds and emeralds shaped in scrolls and surmounted by a graduated row of 19 inverted cabochon pear-shaped emeralds. Queen Victoria is known to have worn the tiara on several royal and official engagements, including a state visit to France in 1855.
Coronet
A coronet is a type of crown that is typically worn by ranks of nobility, rather than kings and queens. However, to most people, the coronet looks very much like any crown that could be worn by royals. It’s a circular head ornament, usually made of gold, embellished with pearls and leaf designs.
In Britain, the type of design used to embellish the coronet denotes the rank of the wearer. For example, a duke’s coronet will have eight strawberry leaves, according to Encyclopedia Britannica.
Imperial State Crown
A much lighter crown is worn by the monarch when leaving Westminster Abbey, and at the annual State Opening of Parliament. The current Imperial State Crown was made in 1937 for George VI and is a copy of the one made in 1838 for Queen Victoria, which had fallen into a poor state of repair, and had been made using gems from its own predecessor, the State Crown of George I. In 1953, the crown was resized to fit Elizabeth II, and the arches were lowered by 2.5 cm (1 in) to give it a more feminine appearance. The gold, silver and platinum crown is decorated with 2,868 diamonds, 273 pearls, 17 sapphires, 11 emeralds and 5 rubies. Among the largest stones are the 317-carat (63 g) Cullinan II diamond, also known as the Second Star of Africa, added to the crown in 1909 (the larger Cullinan I is set in the Sovereign's Sceptre). The 170-carat (34 g) Black Prince's Ruby, set in the front cross, is not actually a ruby but a large cabochon red spinel. According to legend it was given to Edward the Black Prince by the Spanish king Peter of Castile in 1367 and Henry V wore it at the Battle of Agincourt. How the stone found its way back into the Royal Collection after the Interregnum is unclear, but a substantial "ruby" was acquired for the Crown Jewels in 1661 at a cost of £400, and this may well have been the spinel. On the back of the crown is the 104-carat (20.8 g) cabochon Stuart Sapphire, and in the top cross is St Edward's Sapphire, reputedly taken from the ring of the Confessor when his body was re-interred at the Abbey in 1163. Below the monde hang four pearls, three of which are often said to have belonged to Elizabeth I, but the association is almost certainly erroneous.
Coronet – Small crown generally worn by dukes and earls at coronations, and often worn by princes/princesses at formal events.
The Iron Crown of Lombardy, probably the most ancient royal insignia of Europe.
This is the most formal of all the tiaras, and the style that you’re most likely to see on royalty. It has more height than other styles on the list, which means that it’s probably best avoided by brides-to-be with a long face shape.
Boucheron Honeycomb Tiara, this tiara was a favorite of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. It was designed by Boucheron in 1921 for well-known society hostess Margaret (Mrs. Ronald) Grenville, who was a close friend of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.
Imperial Crown, also called Crown Of Charlemagne, crown created in the 10th century for coronations of the Holy Roman emperors
