After an 8 year career in the US Marine Corps, serving under President Bush at Camp David, Darryl Council has spent countless years of self study and mediation. Darryl’s knowledge about meditation, mindfulness, and stretching traditions has had a profound impact on his life and now he want to pass on that information to you.
We all have stress of some sort. Even the word alone stressed people out. We all feel it, and thankfully Darryl has shared six of his techniques to re-calibrate your mental, emotional and physical compass.
1. Breathe: Not just any breath, I want you to breathe with your belly. Try this right now. Relax your belly, and take a deep, DEEP inhale through your nose using your diaphragm so that your belly moves horizontally and your chest remains (for the most part) still. Feel that? Good. Now take another breath just like that.
2. Observe Your Thoughts: When something sets you off what happens? You will likely notice a never ending stream of thoughts rolling through your mind. Stop yourself. Observe the thought as a detached witness. See your mind as an entity that is separate yet a part of you. Don’t try and change anything, just watch them like you would clouds in the sky.
3. Is it relevant? Get out of your head and into the moment. Right now is all that matters give yourself over fully to whatever is happening in your direct experience. Embrace THIS MOMENT with your entire being, from the sights, to the smells, to the feelings and sensations, and deal with your problem when it’s time to.

Will Taylor - Senior Operator at PAL aerospace and member at Blended Athletics wrote an article for our Winter edition of The Pursuit Magazine. It was one of our best articles to date. The pandemic has affected all of us in some capacity - some have lost jobs and some have been restricted to the four walls of our home. In this article, Will shares how the pandemic has negatively affected his health and how he “turned the ship around” before it sails further in the wrong direction.
There is so much information to highlight that this post would be a mile long, so we will keep it (somewhat) short, but don’t worry you’ll be able to read all about it when we launch our new website. Until then we will leave you with this:
“I ask you to please be mindful of your physical and mental well-being. Listen to your inside voice. Pay attention to the indicators. It is as essential now as it ever was to take the steps- however small-to ensure we remain as healthy as possible while we stay the blazes home!
