I haven’t posted much on this page lately but I’m still here! Last year was busy as I started a new role at work. Crochet, creating reels, and posting just wasn’t fun anymore. But after taking a several month break, I’m back into crocheting and even trying making something new… cardigans! Can’t wait to share more pics soon.

These pics are some of my new favorites- they’re not professionally taken or posed particularly well, but they are certainly special to me! My daughter and her best friend asked me to make these shawls for them! I love that they already appreciate handmade items, and these were with lots of love for these two beautiful girls!

Happy Navaratri! Navaratri literally means 9 nights and is celebrated in honor of Goddess Durga and her many forms.

The last day, Vijayadashami, is an auspicious day to start new things such as learning music or dancing. It is the day each of my kids did their official “writing ceremony” (Vidhyarambham), where they write their first words into rice.

Today is the 10th and most important day of Onam, Thiruvonam! Thiruvonam is the day of celebrations and women wear traditional Kerala attire, a two piece sari that is cream with a gold border. This is my humble homage to the beautiful attire of Kerala.

“Why are there bad guys?” I’ll never forget when my daughter asked me that when she came home from one her first days in Kindergarten. They had just learned an active shooter drill. The thought of her with her classmates hiding in a closet broke my heart.

The horrific news last night is every parent’s nightmare. I cannot imagine what the community of Uvalde is going through.

I am sickened by the loss of lives, sickened by the loss of innocence for those children who have survived, and I am sickened that this type of shooting happens keeps happening. Enough is enough.

If you tuned in on Monday night during my convo with you heard me talk about the process of designing this Shiva newborn set. It was a fun challenge to design something that looked like animal print using crochet, but I think it turned out pretty good (swipe to see a closer look at the back of the diaper cover)!

Happy Monday!! This weekend was so fun (but tiring). Got the chance to go out for date night- it was nice to eat a meal without a ton of interruptions 😆. We also had the chance to meet with some friends and some family. And now it’s Monday morning, back to the grind!

Happy Vishu! For those not familiar, Vishu is a holiday celebrated in Kerala to welcome in the new year!
I am back after taking a few weeks away from content creating and Instagram. I wasn’t feeling very creative and making reels and stories felt more like a chore. It was nice to take a break and go away for spring break with my kids and husband, it was long overdue. We all had so much fun together, focusing on each other and not worrying about “documenting” it for social media.

In honor of MahaShivratri, I’d like to share my baby Shiva newborn set! I really enjoyed designing this, it was fun figuring out how to make animal print using crochet (see the second pic to see the back of the diaper cover, I love how it turned out)!

I wanted to take a minute to thank you all for the overwhelming support with the launch of my new brand!! A lot of planning and work went into the rebrand and I think it went off successfully!

I get asked a lot about how I find time to crochet while working full time and also raising 3 kids. The answer is I don’t! I don’t have time to crochet as much as I’d like but I usually try to take at least a few minutes each day to work on my projects.

I also find creative ways to multi-task - I bring crochet to kids swim class, bring it in the car if my husband is driving, and crochet while I watch tv or listen to an audiobook.

Because this is not my full time job and each set takes anywhere from 6-12 hours depending on complexity, I limit the number of orders I take each month and don’t take custom orders.

How do you find ways to fit in your hobbies into your busy schedules?

2022 has already taught me that I need to be flexible and go with the flow. My 3 kids are home from school this entire week, weather has been snowy/icy, and we had a covid exposure. So instead of being super productive as I had hoped, between calls I’ve been snuggling with kids and preparing snacks (So. Many. Snacks)! Instead of working out on the peloton, I’ve been trying to keep up with the never ending dishes and laundry pile!!
Counting my blessings that everyone at home is safe, happy, and healthy! But hoping the rest of the year has a little bit more back to normal!

My plans for the last day of break are to just chill out! It was so fun and awesome to have family stay with us to celebrate the holidays (at one point there were 15 people!) but now I’m taking advantage of this weekend to do nothing but watch movies, get ready for the upcoming week, and hopefully do a little bit of crochet!

2021 has had a lot of ups and downs and I’m certainly looking ahead to a new year! This year we got settled into our new home, and my kids went back to school, made new friends, and enjoyed living close to family. However, our move to the east coast was bittersweet as we lost my father-in-law only a few months after moving here.
I don’t know what 2022 will have in store for us, but my wish is for it to be a healthy and happy year.

One thing I love about being a small business is that my orders aren’t just a business transaction. I have a conversation with almost every single one of my customers, and so many of them share pictures and messages with me afterwards! The personal touch is really something special with a handmade business.

As you may know, I have closed my shop for new orders and will be back in Jan! Giving myself a short break from taking orders has been nice as it gives me time to do other things I enjoy (like reading, hanging with family and friends) and gives me the opportunity to crochet things just for fun! I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving when I can get a break from my job for a few days as well!

Who’s ready for Halloween!! This year feels especially exciting since there wasn’t much trick or treating last year. There are lots more kids in our new neighborhood and everyone is planning to set up tables at the end of our driveways! I’ll be trick or treating with the kids till they’re tired and I’ll certainly be in costume 👻
