The ALS Clinical Research Learning Institute® (CRLI) is a two-day program designed to provide education and training to individuals impacted by ALS who are interested in clinical research and the therapy development process. Individuals who complete the ALS-CRLI program are considered ALS Research Ambassadors and are eligible to participate in opportunities that influence and improve the ALS research process. Applications are now being accepted for the upcoming in-person event scheduled for October 20th & 21st, 2024, in Clearwater, Florida. Call for applications closes July 15th, 2024. Led by professionals, United of Georgia Support Groups offer a community that understands what you are experiencing. Members share and learn about living with ALS. Support Group meetings are free and open to Georgians living with ALS and their caregivers. Frequently, guest speakers present on relevant topics. Attendees receive information and strategies for preserving independence and enhancing quality of life. Most importantly, participants discover they are not alone... they discover people who care.

ALS United of Georgia supports the Justice for ALS Veterans Act. The Senate Veterans Affairs Committee is holding a hearing on this critical legislation.

This bill increases benefit payments for survivors of Veterans who pass away due to ALS. Join our advocacy efforts today to share your story and encourage Congress to pass the Justice for ALS Veterans Act on behalf of all veteran families impacted by ALS.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! The 2024 Walk ALS Georgia will be held on Saturday, September 21st at Georgia State Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

Walk ALS Georgia is our largest annual fundraising and awareness event. Each year, thousands of people gather together to walk in honor and in memory of their Heroes, while raising money to support the programs and services that help enhance the lives of Georgians living with ALS. None of the work we do here at ALS United of Georgia would be possible without our walk teams, donors, sponsors and volunteers!

More information on registration will be released next week! We hope you’ll join us as we walk UNITED for a cure.

Tomorrow, as part of Rare Disease Day, the House Health Subcommittee will hold a Legislative Hearing on Rare Disease Bills at 10 AM. Several pieces of legislation will be discussed that may have an impact on those living with ALS, in particular H.R. 5663, ALS Better Care Act sponsored by Reps. Schakowsky, Quigley, and Fitzpatrick. The hearing will be open to the public and will be live-streamed online at https://energycommerce.house.gov/
