I’ll always be Team First Look.
Here’s why:
1) Seeing each other before the ceremony greatly reduces stress for the couple. Chances are, you spend a lot of time together, so being apart on such a big day is hard! Everyone seems to relax the minute the first look has occurred.
2) You actually get to join your cocktail hour which is such a fun part of the day. The energy and excitement during this period is contagious.
3) You can do all your portraits beforehand and your family and wedding party get to join the full cocktail hour too.
4) It’s an intimate moment in a day packed with people
5) Your photographer will be less stressed too. Doing all your portraits, family photos and wedding party photos in 1 hour is difficult (especially when everyone is ready for a libation).

The cons? Beauty needs to start earlier in the day. Family & wedding party will also need to be ready earlier. Extra hours with your photographer might be needed. It’s typically a minimum of 8 hours to capture all the major moments of the day with a first look. But it’s totally worth it!

One of my favorite place cards to date were these photo cards at each setting. The bride found awesome pictures of every guest, printed them in black & white, and we placed them. During cocktail hour, guests walked around and found their seat and in the process, had a ball seeing everyone else’s snapshots. I love creative and personal touches at a wedding.

My favorite part of this day was watching everyone arrive. The minute guests walked in, a smile came over them. They peeled off their jackets, grabbed a glass of bubbly, gave hugs and relished the sun shining down on them. It was like we were all coming out of hibernation. It’s and I got to spend most of it with this beautiful human. We attended a tasting and walk through at the beautiful new today. Such a lovely couple! Can’t wait for this wedding in June!

The new Rosewood Miramar Beach resort is truly gorgeous. Seeing it completely built after so many years, feels wonderful. The view brought back memories from my childhood coming to the Miramar. Do you remember the blue tiled roofs? While you won’t see this at the resort, you will see glimpses of the new Pantone color, “Miramar Blue” scattered throughout the property. One fabulous example is the solo blue crystal hanging from each of the stunning crystal chandeliers in the ballroom (second pic). I can’t wait to work and attend events at the Miramar!
