if you’re feeling weighed down by a bunch of daily habits you feel obligated to commit to, maybe it’s time to flip the script. shift your internal monologue.

obligations are heavy. excitement is uplifting.

why are these habits important? how will they make you a better person? and what will this better version of yourself be able to accomplish, attract, and manifest?

think about how thankful you’ll be, six months or six years from now, when the compound effect of your daily habits starts to take root.

focus on THAT. get excited. because putting yourself in position to live the life you deserve is self-love in action.

Mid-year check-in!
How has your year been so far?
Mine is at a 💙. It had a few downs but has mostly been really good. And I can't put into words how thankful I am for that.

Last year and the year before were rough as far as stress/mental health. I quit my job to do this full time and then the next month surprisingly got guardianship of my little brother and the amount of abrupt change and pressure was a lot to handle.

I feel like this year was finally me being able to process things and de-stress and be less in survival-mode. Which has honestly been weird and lovely.

I first saw the concept of a "wins" folder mentioned by someone on Twitter. (If memory serves, it was Ava Duvernay. I'm not sure that's right, but I'm gonna credit that queen with it anyway.)

A "wins" folder is something that exists on your desktop or homescreen. You add to that thing ANYTHING that feels good.

Here are some examples:

- Your agent sends you a text that says, "your new headshots are 🔥"
- You receive your first-ever series reg audition
- You get a note that says, "Casting loved your tape!"
- An actor from class messages you and says how much your performance moved them
- You get a great review for a play you're in
- A short film you did got accepted to a festival
- A director sends you an email, telling you how great you were to work with and how fabulous your episode is cutting together
- In a workshop, a Casting Director tells you that you absolutely nailed your scene

For all but the last example, you screenshot that yumminess and put it in your "wins" folder. For the verbal win, you transpose it as quickly as humanly possible, so as not to forget it, and tuck it into your folder.

Some wins that I have stored on my desktop:

- A class where everyone put their pronouns into their Zoom name without my asking
- A really, REALLY kind email from my showrunner at the end of the season
- An email from a director, praising the actors I'd sent them that season
- The moment a filmmaker who I REALLLLLLY admire followed me on Twitter
- A text chain between me and a Casting exec with the greatest of compliments
- An email from a former student after they booked their first series reg

Keep your wins and LOOK AT THEM OFTEN. Don't just tuck them away. Look at them on good days AND bad days.

And if you get a REALLY great, deeply meaningful win, you print that thing out and frame it. Put it on your wall where you'll see it every day.

Bask in the glow. You earned it.

Subjects were asked to drink a 12 oz can of Coke in the morning and measure their blood glucose with a Continuous Glucose Monitor.

And then do the same thing the next morning and WALK afterwards and the results were profound.

The average glucose levels without walking was 162.

WITH walking they brought their glucose levels down to 132.

A 33% difference.

Can you imagine over the course of your life if your average glucose was 33% lower because of moving your body?

Dysregulated blood sugar can trigger chronic inflammation resulting in disease.

Getting a continuous glucose monitor is a great way to REAL TIME information as to what is happening to your physiology.

The Free Style Libre is a great one.

The ideal window for your blood sugar is to keep it between 80-120 (although this is highly individual).

Other things to lower you glucose levels (if they run high) are

Cold therapy
Drinking apple cider vinegar with meals
Getting 8 hours of sleep
Meditation

Answering one of the most common questions I get asked…👆🏼

If you LOVE intermittent fasting then go for it! Do what makes your body feels its best. I’m not here to tell anyone what to do.💛

But I will NEVER recommend it to my menstruating clients who are struggling with hormone imbalance and high stress, and that is a hill I will die on!

In my practice I have seen countless menstruating women who have tried IF and they are left feeling frustrated and miserable.

😕They feel deprived not eating when they want.

🫣They feel hungry all the time, and sometimes even binge during their “eating windows”.

😴They are dragging in the morning without breakfast.

🥱They lack energy in the afternoon.

😵‍💫They feel more wired and tired then they did before.

😐And it did not help them gain more energy or decrease their bloating, period cramps, or horrible PMS symptoms.

They are left feeling confused and frustrated because another social media diet failed them again.

Which is why I always recommend eating every 3-4 hours within the first hour of waking up until 2 hours before going to bed. Plus making sure to keep blood sugar stable when eating balanced meals.

THIS is what has helped my clients gain more energy, improve bloating, ditch period cramping, and decrease PMS.🤗
