Sorry I’ve been absent from my page 📄 for awhile with COVID, working as a RN, making my CBD PAIN CREAM, & trying to figure out my own health issues something had to give...so I decided to put my phone down

So we will start at the beginning again and this time I think Giving examples from my own life might help with understanding of what grief really is!

No one has to live with the pain of grief. No one has to die for you to experience it either.
It comes in many different shapes and sizes.
And when it comes down to it.... grief is an emotional response to a change in a significant relationship or pattern in your life.
For me, grief was more about important relationships in my life that had completely changed & NO matter what I did, I felt that I couldn’t repair the problem- how do you heal a relationship when the other person won’t emotionally engage with you?

This is a job change or loss, your kids going back to school, an illness, a move/selling a house, a family member cutting you out of their life.... there are too many to list!

Sometimes we are so afraid of the possibility of grieving ☹️ we stay in situations that are not healthy for us. Like the pain we know is better than the pain we don’t!

I’ve never meant anyone that enjoys heartache but everyone does hurt, that’s normal. You don’t need to be fixed, your broken heart 💔 needs to healed. ❣️
I want to help you heal that pain!!!

I’m a perfect example of someone that was taught to act perfect no matter what! Once I learned when I experience an emotion -1) acknowledge the feeling 2- let myself feel or experience the emotion 3) that feeling passes through me..... when I don’t let myself feel my emotions and I try to swallow them and pretend that they aren’t there those emotions become a state of being! Meaning that they stay with me and end up becoming things like depression!

As a Griever we aren’t broken & don’t need to be fixed. Our hearts are broken and need to be healed!

I personally spent most of my life pretending that I was perfect and strong and eventually my backpack 🎒 of CRAP got too heavy and I was buried under it.... until I found GRM. And I didn’t understand how it worked but it did & I’m seeing it work with my clients and it’s amazing!!!! ( don’t worry I now understand why &how it works)

Your tears don’t have to be silent and you don’t have to be alone!

If Christmas lights, and music make your heart break into 1000 pieces, you could be grieving. Whether your heart was broken by a death, COVID-19, the end of a relationship, a painful childhood, it doesn't matter-in the sense that your hurt or anger is valid, normal and natural.
The good news is that grieving doesn't have to affect the year-end holiday season for the rest of your life.
But it’s possible you may feel hopeless about feeling some holiday happiness. You might even wonder ′′ What makes Christmas so happy anyway?"

Most of us already know, this year is going to be different and possibly difficult, here are some ways to prepare you:

1. Make a plan. It's okay if you don't want to celebrate, but try not to isolate. It's normal to feel like you're alone but having somewhere to go (a zoom party) or a friend to call, maybe FaceTime someone.. it can be a lot of help. Isolating yourself may only make you feel worse. So let’s non isolate while isolating... ( tricky... but I’m here to help you with this)

2. Be honest about your feelings. It's crucial that you share your feelings, so they don't get bottled up inside you. Just recognizing them can do the trick. Trying saying something like, ′′ I feel sad right now that my dad won't be with us for Christmas." Even if you’re just saying it to yourself! By acknowledging our emotions, accepting them/ letting ourselves feel them - they are able to come and go. It is when we stuff our feelings deep down that they become a state of being.

3. Decide which traditions you want to follow and which ones you want to change. Maybe prepare a special symbol in honor of the person who died or talk about your favorite holiday memories with family and friends. This is an individual thing- it took me months before I could put Sunny’s pictures back up.

4. Try to avoid eating or drinking too much. ( please remind me of this too) Remember when you were sad as a kid and adults would say, ′′ Don't feel bad, have a cookie." or like when a well-intentioned friend offered you ice cream or drinks after a breakup? Sugar & alcohol didn't make you feel better. They made you feel DIFFERENTLY. And the true reason for your sadness was never actually addressed! I know it's hard, but try to feel your feelings, instead of masking them.

5. Consider learning more about the Grief Recovery Method! I’m so happy that I did! Message me for more information and a free 45 minute consultation.

Welcome to Healing Your Heart.

The Grief Recovery Method is a researched, evidence-based curriculum which utilizes an action-oriented process and toolkit to help you work through your pain and know what to do when new challenges arise. Your grief may be from ANY type of loss; from death, divorce, the end of a relationship, loss of health, a career, trust, faith, or safety. Moving forward from loss is not solely about time, but rather your actions within that time. The Grief Recovery Method encourages us to feel our grief in an authentic way, while teaching us practical and insightful tools to help us navigate our losses in order to move towards joy and hope.
Many of us have either been taught from an early age or have learned myths about grief, such as:
* Time heals all wounds
* Replace the loss
* Don't feel bad
* Be strong
* Grieve alone
* Stay Busy
* Grief is experienced in a step-by-step process (the stages of grief)
These myths are not helpful! In truth, grief is the normal and natural reaction to loss. It must be honored, felt, and expressed. It can include conflicting feelings caused by the change in a relationship, familiar life circumstance or pattern of behavior.
Unresolved grief can be about things we wish we had done differently, better or more. Completeness (not "closure") is the result of delivering those communications that we: never made, felt were not heard, or that need to be said again- but this time with someone hearing us say them. It enables us to say goodbye to the pain and our unmet hopes, dreams, and expectations about the future.
