I have done presentations about my 1886 Victor antique bicycle to schools, bike clubs, family and for lots of friends. So I thought I should finally put it on you tube. With the help of Matt W's drone I even have some fun riding video at the end. Hope you like the show! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=671CtqCds2Y&t=1s

Here's Wolf Tooth's new hanger aligner in action on a bike with quick release wheels. It works similarly on thru-axle wheel bikes https://youtu.be/IpWoySCg0BA

I'm excited to try Wolf Tooth's latest game-changing invention: a potentially brilliant new derailleur hanger alignment tool. Top--to-bottom in photo: my time-tested circa 1969 Campagnolo "R" Tool; next is my lovely circa 2015 Efficient Velo Tools Tru Arc. Both these work the same way, as does every other available hanger aligner. You align using the rear wheel's rim as a reference (not so easy to do). On the bottom is Wolf Tooth's brand new design, which lets you align the hanger using the rear axle as the reference! The first new take on a tool for this important and super common repair in like 70 years! Way to go Wolf Tooth! Watch for my review soon on roadbikerider.com and youtube

Fixing a Loose Threadless Headset Fixing a Loose Threadless Headset February 3, 2016 Published in Issue No. 700 By Jim Langley One of the most common things to go out of adjustment on many modern road bicycles is the headset, which is the component that connects the fork to the frame so that you can turn to steer and balance your bi…

The first USA L'Eroica ride was great fun - my report with photos is here http://jimlangley.blogspot.com/2015/04/leroica-california-ride-report-in-photos.html They recently opened registration for next year's event, which takes place April 8, 9 and 10. I expect a lot more people this year so you might want to sign up early and start getting your vintage ride and kit ready. Let me know if I can help. http://www.eroicacalifornia.com/registration
If you have fast legs, you should like this Sprinter Cycles bicycle head badge for Paris, circa 1920s I believe, though I've never heard of this company or seen this bike nameplate before.
A quick pic of the just-arrived-from-the-Czech-Republic Campagnolo Bicycle Assembly Stand. Campy had this in their catalog from 1967 to 1974 as far as I can tell http://jimlangley.net/wrench/wrench_images/CampagnoloToolsList4_L.jpg . This stand belonged to Jaromir Zak, coach of the Slovakian Olympic Cycling Team. His rider Anton Tkac won gold at the 1976 Olympics in the Men's Match Sprint and was a 3-time world champion. It's possible that his bicycles were tuned on this stand. It's a beautifully designed stand. Very heavy duty yet comes apart to pack small. It's a bit rusty but all there and still ready for use all these years and miles later!
30+ years in the making: finally finished my best-ever bicycle head badge display. All 85 badges are screwed into halved wood dowels painted gloss black to resemble vintage-bicycle head tubes. The badges are held by tiny brass screws, which is how they were attached on many of the finest bikes. The case was made for me in 1984 by former Santa Cruz woodworker Gus Gustafson and Bonny Doon glass-artist John Forbes. The badges were collected one at a time since 1980. I'll work on getting some better pictures.
Interesting explanation of what makes some bicycles a lot nicer-riding http://janheine.wordpress.com/2014/12/31/the-biomechanics-of-planing/
The Biomechanics of Planing We discussed "planing" in a recent post by looking at power data from a double-blind test of two different bikes. The data showed that the same rider's power output was consistently higher on a bik...
