Matt Crable SFISD School Board Trustee #1
This page serves as a source of information about Matt Crable, Santa Fe ISD School Board Trustee Position #1 While in Lubbock, I met my lovely wife, Jessie.

Santa Fe ISD School Board meeting 11/13/2023:
Great information about your school taxes and the bond. Thank you, Dana Marks Santa Fe City Council Position 5.
SFISD Bond / SFISD Tax Rate / Prop 4 / Your Pocketbook However you choose to vote, vote with knowledge not emotions. I recently heard a citizen state he knew a candidate was the right person for the position, but he was supported by someone I don't like. Place your differences with the district aside and focus on what's best for the students and your personal finances. Including myself we are all being taxed to death. Here are some things to consider:
SFISD has reduced their tax rate consecutively the last 5 years: ([email protected]) ([email protected]) ([email protected]) ([email protected]) ([email protected]) ([email protected]). The last decrease was 0.1166 or 12%. The SFISD Bond, if passes, changes that decrease to 0.1066 or 11%. After giving the citizens 11% they are asking to have 1% of that back for the bond. Prop 4 will raise the Homestead Exemption from 40K to 100K which will significantly decrease the amount of taxes owed. For example, a $300,000 home after the 40K homestead exemption equates to $260,000 taxable value with a SFISD 2022 tax rate (1.21%) equals $3,146. If Prop 4 passes and the homestead exemption increases to 100K the result is $200,000 taxable value and the SFISD tax rate decrease to (1.10%) equals $2,200. The tax rate decrease along with Prop 4 is a $946 savings. According to SFISD the bond will require 0.01% of this year's rate decrease to support it. With the above numbers that equates to $20 reducing your savings to $926. $200,000 @ 1.10 equals $2200 $200,000 @ 1.11 equals $2220 Again, vote with knowledge and not emotions, vote for what you feel is best for the students and yourself.

Per the email sent out in Skyward:
During the fall semester, SFISD was fortunate enough to not have to close school for any hazardous events. This allows us to add four additional Student Holidays/Teacher Professional Learning days to the spring semester for this school year. These days will assist and support teachers in their professional learning work to concentrate on developing plans for student progress. This revised 2022-2023 academic calendar was presented to the school board and approved on November 14th. As a reminder, these additional student holidays will serve as "weather make-up" days if necessary. The four days revised for Student Holidays/Professional Learning days for next semester are:
February 3
March 10
April 21
May 25
💥The last day of school will now be May 24, 2023.
High School ONLY early release dates are May 22 -23, 2023.
Graduation will remain on May 26, 2023.
📅 This revised 2022-2023 academic calendar was presented to the school board and approved on November 14th. These revisions allow for more student holidays/teacher professional learning days. As a reminder, these additional student holidays will serve as "weather make-up" days if necessary.

Did you know in 2016 voters passed a $34.5 million dollar bond that was also a NO TAX RATE INCREASE bond? In fact, the district’s fiscal responsibility, in addition to factors such as community growth, have allowed the School Board to LOWER the tax rate from $1.4023 to $1.2343 since 2018.
👇🏻Click below to hear Dr. Bott answer some of the most common questions we’ve had pertaining to the new, revised bond.
🤔 What questions or concerns do you have about the no tax rate increase bond that will be on the May ballot? Early voting starts in one week, and I want to make sure everyone is informed with correct and true information.
