St. Patrick’s Day delicious smoothie bowl recipe that will make a perfect “lucky” Pre or Post Pickleball meal!
☘️ Shamrock Smoothie Bowl (serves 1)
½ cup (115 g) plain low-fat Greek yogurt
¼ cup (60 ml) unsweetened milk of your choice
½ small frozen banana, sliced
¼ ripe avocado
1 handful baby spinach
¼ cup (50 g) frozen pineapple chunks
¼ cup (50 g) frozen blueberries
Optional sweetener: 1 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup
Optional toppings: sliced kiwi and shredded coconut
✅ Place all the ingredients except the optional toppings in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. The mixture will be thick – if you would like a thinner smoothie bowl, pour in a little more milk. Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary.
✅ Pour the smoothie mixture into a bowl and add the toppings if you’re using them.
Then… eat it before it melts. 😋I love this after playing pickleball! It has a great combo of protein and healthy carbs! Key to being a Fit Pickleballer!

In our everyday lives, we are exposed to all different kinds of pollution, stress, unhealthy food and drinks, sleep deprivation, and lack of healthy lifestyle habits. This takes a toll on our health…and our Pickleball game!Add in the holiday celebrations of overindulgence and we have a need to set the “Reset” button!
I’ll be leading a 10-day Total Mind & Body Detox beginning on January 8th. It’s a great opportunity to have me, your holistic personal trainer, as well as a like-minded group of people, assist in resetting our minds and bodies for a health 2024.
Here are a few signs your body needs a healthy detox.
1.Brain Fog: Many studies have shown that exposure to pollution and toxins can have a serious effect on our brains and the way it functions. After a cleanse you can experience sharper mental clarity.
2.Sugar Cravings: If you have addictions to sugar, caffeine, or junk food a detox program can help you eliminate or at least tame unhealthy cravings that can leave us feeling sick and tired.
3.Digestive issues/Bloating: A detox will give your gut a break, allowing it to restore its natural digestion process.
4.Low energy levels: If you always feel like you need to grab a latte to get any kind of pep in your step, a detox might be in order. Feel sluggish on the court.
5.Body odor/bad breath: As toxins begin to build up in our system, certain odors begin to release waving a "red flag" telling us that something isn't working properly or is toxic.
6.Skin issues: If you’re noticing skin issues like breakouts, rashes, dry patches, bumps, flakiness, itchiness or discoloration that you can’t seem to get a handle on, it can be a sign your body is dealing with an internal imbalance or environmental stresses.
7.Joint/muscle pain: If you find yourself constantly suffering from soreness, stiffness, aches or pains, that can be a sign of toxin overload. Chemicals in our environment and food can cause inflammation in the body which can have an adverse effect on our mobility.

🤔Which is better:
1. Doing one long workout a week
2. Doing a little exercise most days of the week
Researchers at Edith Cowan University in Australia found that option 2 worked best, at least when it comes to resistance training.
➡️In a nutshell, scientists had people do strength training workouts, with everyone performing the same number of repetitions per week.
The only difference was that one group did all of their reps at one workout, while others spread those reps out over several small workouts during the course of a week.
The ones who spread them out during the week had the best results!
👉We all know we’d rather be playing pickleball than “working out!” However, fitting in short, strength training sessions is crucial for injury prevention, increased power, and endurance on the court!

Here’s a simple rundown so you can try it for yourself.
Think of it like a form of meditation:
Find a quiet spot to sit for 5-10 minutes, relax by focusing on your breathing (it can help to close your eyes), and then allow yourself to think about what you want.
Imagine it as clearly and as detailed as you possibly can — right down to how you feel once you’ve achieved your goal. Let those emotions flood your body. Are you proud? Relieved? Content? Ecstatic?
Repeating this process at least once a day can help set up your mindset for success because it’s like you’re rehearsing all the steps you have to take.
This can give you the confidence to do it in real life.
I used to visualize each race before my swim meets. Now, with pickleball, I visualize the way I hit the ball, the fun I’m having, my quickness get to the ball, etc. I also use it for life goals like the house I want (how I feel entertaining there, the smells in the kitchen, etc). The possibilities are endless!
