We'd like to break our social media hiatus momentarily to encourage all competitors at events around the country this weekend to join us in observing a moment of silence in honor of Georgie Campbell and all other riders we have lost along the way.

All events running in the U.S. this weekend have been invited by USEA CEO Rob Burk to join British Eventing in solidarity with a silence at 12 pm on Saturday (6/1) in whatever time zone they are in.

In the words of Georgie's loving husband, Jesse, "when you’re out competing this weekend, please just smile at each other, don’t feel awkward about laughing, and above all, try and love everything and everyone."

Louis was in a motorcycle accident Sunday after Galway and is now in the hospital.

He will recover but like any serious situation it will take time.

Louis (and for the moment his wife, Kristi) won’t be able to work for sometime. I have been with them at the hospital as well as in contact daily and the number one thing they are worried about is not working and losing everything they have worked so hard for such as their home.

We all recognize that times are tough. With that said there will be a GoFundMe coming out in the very near future. We are just waiting for some more information from the medical staff so we know the scope of time that will be missed from work.

If you feel so inclined to offer some assistance before the GoFundMe for things such as flying their daughter down to see her dad, flying in help to get their rig home, lodging for Kristi, and so much more this is Kristi’s Venmo handle:

A hard decision for many.

Having horses living out has all sorts of hazards. They can get kicked. They can roll and get caught next to a fence. They can run and slip and fall. They can get loose and get on a road.
There are so many risks.

BUT----Having horses confined has just as many risks, just different ones.

Many studies have shown that indoor risks are probably worse than outdoor risks, because thousands of years of evolution created a species that lived in groups and wandered freely.

Still, either way has plenty to worry about----

I had one horrific outcome, with no way to have anticipated the eventually scarring circumstance the horse went through.
I have had many more wonderful outcomes.
But it still kicks me in the gut…
