MEET THE FOUNDER

At an early age, Latecka Moore-Early was lead to be business minded, dedicated, and compassionate towards others. Her learned entrepreneurial skills, strong morals and the willingness to help her community was established by her grandparents, the late Mr. & Mrs. Eugene (Bessie) Moore Sr.

A native of Savannah, GA, she obtained her Master Cosmetology License from TCI Beauty School and has been in the cosmetology industry for over 20 years. When she is not servicing her clients, Latecka works as a youth advocate advisor. She co-founded Conversation & Curlz for inner city middle school youth in Chatham County. Her objectives are teaching them the importance of basic hair care, skin care, as well as proper table manners & etiquette.

In honor of her grandparents who instilled in her the importance of giving back to her community, Latecka founded the B.E. Loved Moore Foundation Inc. Which leads to her dynamic work with young girls and boys who need genuine leaders with a desire to guide, mentor and serve them on their journey to adulthood.

Latecka is also the sole-proprietor and lead hair stylist of Luxe The Salon for 10 years. Latecka has been married to Johnny J. Early for 11 years. They have one beautiful daughter, Taylor, who is attending Savannah Technical College to follow into her mother’s footsteps to become a licensed master cosmetologist.

Today is Juneteenth. Also known as “Black Independence Day” or “Freedom Day,” Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the end of slavery, particularly in Texas, and more generally throughout the former Confederate States.
While the Emancipation Proclamation was officially announced on January 1, 1863, it wasn’t until June 19, 1965 that Union soldiers landed in Galveston, Texas, under the leadership of Major General Gordon Granger, to deliver the news that the Civil War had ended, and that slaves were now free.
Today, Juneteenth is celebrated as a day to name our history, to remember those who suffered under chattel slavery, to honor those who fought for collective freedom, and to continue to commit to the end of racism and white supremacy. It is a day to hold in tension the progress that has been made along with the grave inequities that still exist in our society.
