In this week's Throwback Thursday, we go back to ten years to August of 2014, when Richard Lovrich, center, creative director at Proctors Theatre, spoke to the Kiwanis Club of Schenectady at a regular noontime meeting. Lovrich discussed how far Schenectady has come and where it's going for the future in performing arts. His dedication to the arts was impressive! Thanking Lovrich for his guest speaking engagement are Doug McPhee, left, and Kiwanis President Michael Della Rocco. Proctors

Here's another Throwback Thursday, this time to August of 2015, when Sue McLane, center, visited the Kiwanis meeting. McLane pursued an interest in preserving the history of women as reflected in her search through records of Vale Cemetery. She actively searched records to find out what it was like to live in 19th century Schenectady as a woman, discovering the way they dressed and mourned. To learn more about Vale Cemetery and the tours and events it offers, go to www.valecemetery.org.

Throwback Thursday to 2015, when Schenectady Kiwanis Foundation President Heather Peterson welcomed four grant recipients to a Kiwanis meeting. They are from left to right with the colleges noted they will be attending this fall 2015: Lily Herrmann, Colby College; Temera Budhoo, Boston University; Ca'Sondra Arrington, Virginia State University; and Cheyenne Body, SUNY Cobleskill. We'd love to know what these young ladies have achieved since then! Kiwanis is proud to financially support local high school students with their educational experience where they have demonstrated leadership, a positive commitment to their community as a volunteer and demonstrated a need for resources to assist in continuing their education.

We are a day late,๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽˆ but want to wish a very happy birthday ๐ŸŒž to our member Frank Alaska Quinn!

In this Throwback Thursday, we look back to July of 2016, when one Kiwanis guest speaker was Vicki Ramotar, a resource development specialist for the Crossroads Center for Children in Schenectady. Vicki is still with Crossroads today, but now serves as president of the Schenectady Kiwanis board! The mission of Crossroads is "to prepare individuals with and without developmental disabilities for life success within their family and community." A major focus of their program provides assistance to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder through supportive therapies for social, communication and behavioral changes. For further details about the program go to: www.crossroadcenter.org and www.facebook.com/crossroadscenterforchildren. Presenting a Vicki with a certificate of appreciation in the photo is then-Schenctady Kiwanis President, Kathleen Fialkowski. Crossroads Center for Children
