There is a lot of information about the 6/24 vote on the water treatment plant. But the bottom line is this: for a max additional cost of $30/year per household, we get to keep moving forward with this project and stay on schedule to have the new plant running in 2026. $30 is the max amount your annual contribution of $250 to the water treatment plant override will increase with a yes vote on Monday.

State and federal funding supplements are still being explored, and this number is likely to go down, possibly below the initial $250 number. If this vote doesn't pass, the future of water in our town again becomes uncertain.

Please direct any remaining questions to the select board. Andrew Goodrich is chair and also the water resources commission liaison. Thank you for doing what you can to be an informed and active voter!

Town of Scituate Water Treatment Plant Update 02/03/2024

Water Treatment Plant Update from the Town, and a reminder to please report water discoloration to the Water Department.

The water treatment plant servicing the Town of Scituate will commence a two-week shutdown starting Monday, February 5th, to enhance water quality for residents. As part of this endeavor, new carbon will be installed, which is essential for maintaining water quality. Carbon filter media replacement is typically conducted every 3-4 years as routine maintenance. While the water treatment plant is offline, it is essential for residents to conserve water.

Throughout these two weeks, residents may notice fluctuations in water flow and occasional discoloration. However, it's important to note that these temporary changes will not compromise the safety or quality of drinking and bathing water.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to the Water Department at (781) 545-8735.
