It's National Butterfly Day! For me, butterflies represent transformation and growth and have been a source of inspiration in my jewelry making. I'm in awe of all the beautiful colors and shapes of the different species as well as the symbolism of the butterfly coming out of its cocoon (leaving behind what is safe and comfortable, pushing through and coming out stronger than before.) Here are some fun facts about butterflies:
1. Butterflies are able to see colors that humans cannot
2. Bees aren't the only pollinators in nature! Butterflies pollinate cotton and other crops that bees typically do not.
3. Monarch butterflies migrate as far as 3,000 miles in their search for warmer weather.
4. Butterflies use their feet to taste. BUT, they are unable to chew, so they live on a liquid diet, including nectar.
