Just ran across some photos from our last trip out fishing and it’s got me itching to go back out and try to redeem myself and maybe actually catch a fish this time to go along with all the memories 🤣.

Things are coming together nicely on the truck. It’s been a blending balance of modern and period correct elements. I don’t want to take away from the Forest Service lineage and vibe but rather just enhance or beef it up a bit to fit what I’ll be using the truck for better. Still a few things I want to dial in though before I take off for the (this Friday and Saturday). I’ll be hanging out in the booth. If you’re in the area, swing by and say hi 👋🏼.

We’ve had horses for many years now but this one is actually a first for me. He’s MY horse! Not the wife’s. Not the kids. MINE.

A Drum horse. Gypsy Vanner & Shire cross. Registered as “One Heck of an American”. His barn name has been Patriot, which is bad ass of course, but I couldn’t help but think of my Grandpa when we got him home who was a cowboy in days past and even owned a western store in Oregon called Tac & Togs. My Gramps, who was also a Marine, nicknamed me Tank when I was born because I was a chunky 9lbs 11oz. I don’t know if he ever actually called me anything else.

I was really hoping to focus on the this summer but the Forest Service Truck took its place in line. Winter project now but I am really looking forward to having this one engine swapped with a few horses and back on the road. It’s been waiting for far too long 🤦🏻‍♂️ I do think I might start getting serious about collecting the parts needed though 😎

Unexpected purchase today from the FB marketplace. An Old School for the . Not up to par with the hi-speed options available today but the price was right and should serve us well for some overnight fishing trips. Big plans are in the mental works for this ol’ timer right now starting with a . Might have to go crazy with some Currie 60’s and if I’m doing that might have to consider a swap as well 🤔.

Definitely a fun project to work on with the team over at B.E. Meyers & Company, Inc. that made it to the The SEMA Show in the Toyo Tires . One of the builds I wish was sitting in my garage still.

The Coyote swap was the tipping point of this build. I originally was planning on just some minor updates to make it my own but when the Coyote came into the equation so did everything else and all of my money. 🤣.

I didn’t grow up with horses but my wife, , did… so we have horses, of course, and she is determined to get our boys into riding. Well, we started the day with our Gypsy Vanner trying to roll with Brixton on top of her 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣 the rest of the day went great though.

Side note: I absolutely love being able to check my tongue weight with every load. It’s my new favor thing to do 🤠. High five ✋🏼.

I haven’t been sending rounds down range much over the past couple years with two big moves, car projects, horses, work and house renovations all competing for attention but it felt really good to get back in the saddle with one of my unicorns and remain consistent at 1,000 yards.

Sooo… help me out here if you don’t mind. I’ve been tossing around the idea of powdercoating the wheels a grey tone to lighten the overall vibe up a bit. Why? Honestly because a build is never finished even when it’s finished 🤣 but I’m about to pull the wheels off for some suspension maintenance and tuning and figured while they are off maybe change it up a bit. Heck, I could even jump up to 37’s in the new R/T Trail! The gloss black wheels do match the gloss black paint and accents though 🤔. I’m going around in circles here! What would you do?

The Daily Driver.
I’m leaning towards building it out a bit further: aftermarket bumpers, roofrack, lights, winch etc. I went down the rabbit hole of what’s available for this truck about 4 years ago but haven’t followed it much since then. Any recommendations on products/brands to save me some research time?

One modification that is truly very practical and makes a world of difference is any kind of step to get into your truck, especially if lifted. I’m so used to jumping in I forget the struggle for those shorter than me 🤣 well this year I opted to upgrade to the SnugTop, also a must-have, but next year is very close and some steps are definitely high on the to-do list. I’m thinking AMP Research to keep it clean. Anything else I should be considering?

A little last minute Thanksgiving shopping at our local, “fancy”, . If you’re in the area you know what I mean lol. I even managed to bribe the boys to load the groceries themselves.

I really don’t know what to say other than yeah, I bought a school bus 🤣 this was not planned in any way and a total impulse purchase while watching it going for cheap in an auction. I ended up with the high bid and today I brought it home. Is my wife, , thrilled? Absolutely not 😆. Do I have a plan for this yet? Sure don’t.

If you had a school bus, what would you do with it? Crawler Hauler? Skoolie? Mobile studio? Give me some ideas 😎.

I told the kids we were going to a wildlife safari park… but really I just parked the truck in the pasture and let them feed our horses through my new SnugTop 🤣.
