🎉 Installation Day!! Come on down and join us as we install our first public improvement project -- h**pcrete benches at River City Skate Park. A very big thank you goes to everyone who helped create and install these.

05/07/2022

Create Majam is approaching the completion of our first official “Carbon Smart Art” project as a non-profit! Our h**pcrete benches will be moving soon to the River City Skate Park, in South Park (Seattle, WA).
Each bench contains about 15lbs of sequestered carbon in the form of agricultural h**p hurds. Over time, the lime-based binder absorbs additional carbon from our environment as it mineralizes back into limestone.
We love other peoples’ garbage and our form molds were crafted out of repurposed wood from the construction of Mini-Mart City Park, diverting these materials from waste and recycling programs. These large rectangular molds will go on to have a third life as raised garden planter boxes.
Want to help our artist action network sequester more carbon? We are back on the hunt for funding and the next project. Of course, we are always gratefully accepting donations as well.
Find out more at createmajam.com, contact us at [email protected].

We could not have done this without the support and assistance of:
The City of Seattle Neighborhoods Group and Yun Pitre
The Generosity and support of Helen Wight & Courtenay Brimer
Project Managers, James Klinedinst and Kim Schwarzkopf
Sea-Mar Community Center
South Park Redevelopment Committee and Bill Pease
James Morin, for welding our bench frames
Sam Farazzaino at Equinox, for help with contractor connections
Thora Licciardi, for her assistance throughout the project, especially with epoxy coatings
Mini-Mart City Park, for donating their used construction materials
Georgetown Open Space Committee members, Andrew Schiffer, Chayo Rosario Maria and Victor Medina
Gene Everson, for his assistance with coating and input
Sage, for their assistance in moving materials and heavy lifting
The Georgetown and South Park Neighbors who donated used clothing to our drive
John Hansen, for help with moving donated materials
Cailon Earl, for donating the 3D printer we used for making logos

Thank you all!

Thanks to partial funding from the City of Seattle Government, clothing donations from South Park and Georgetown residents, and materials donated by Mini-Mart City Park, Create Majam is crafting four carbon-negative h**pcrete public benches for the River City SkatePark in South Park. Stay tuned to see the finished results!

Is H**p The Construction Material Of The Future? 11/21/2021

Investors are beginning to add industrial h**p to their portfolios. Once the is established, it's only a matter of time until the wonder-material **pcrete becomes standardized.

Is H**p The Construction Material Of The Future? It's so versatile that we sure hope so.

💪 Our first public project is coming along beautifully! We are making **pcrete seating and a h**pcrete feature for the brand new River City SkatePark. These photos show our mold-making process. We use old candle wax to help the h**pcrete release from the molds. Thank you to City of Seattle Government and Seattle Department of Neighborhoods for our matching funds grant.

Have you heard of carbon farming? 🚜 This is one of many reasons we know **pcrete construction is the future.

11/15/2021

It's been a few weeks but 🎉 H**pcrete 101 is back! This week, we're talking about lime-based binders. When we make **pcrete we use lime-based binders for a few reasons including pest resistance, fire resistance, and preventing mold growth. Lime is naturally highly alkaline, and its high silica content binds uniquely well with h**p. Science is cool!

🐘This little elephant has been through a lot. We have used it as an experimental piece, so it keeps getting recycled. The first couple of unmoldings didn't go so well, as you can see in the images. We finally figured out a way to get this tiny behemoth to easily release from its mold, and now we have a cute h**pcrete friend for the yard. 🙌
