I was reading a post about therapy and some of the pitfalls of the model. For me, one fo the drawbacks to traditional therapy is that is can take A LOT of time.... do I think this amount of time is necessary for transformation? Absolutely not! You don't need to spend years and years to see change. In fact, if things are taking years and years, I would say something is going on and your therapist may actually not know how to help you. Another part about the mental health system that always bothered me was...when a therapist doesn't know how to help you with something, often times they are not upfront. Rather than just saying, "I don't know how to work with that particular concern" or simply "I don't know"...it can can instead be sidestepped. I think it is essential as a coach, mentor, therapist etc to know what you can help people with and what you can't. When I work with someone, it is because I am extremely confident I can support them, otherwise I get very honest and let them know that I don't feel I can support with that particular concern.

This all comes back to time... in this article I read it said "For example, research suggests that about half of therapy-goers will experience improvement in 15 to 20 sessions."....if you want to spend 15 -20 sessions to find you are progressing, by all means do so. I know there are a lot of people who feel so done with things taking this much time. Your time matters, you matter...you don't want to spend your life in pain, confusion, or spinning in circles. I get you and I can confidently say you don't have to. If you desire support around this, as this has been your experience, feel free to reach out anytime. Change doesn't have to take forever. 🙏

Are you finding therapy to NOT be helpful as you are not seeing results? Getting results shouldn't have to take years and also cause you to actually feel worse than when you started. Therapy is a wonderful resource, but not for everyone. And that is okay and there is no shame in it not working for you. Sometimes it is about finding another therapist that is a good fit or it is actually about finding a different kind of approach.

Have you felt like therapy was not helpful for you because you want to have a specific outcome but then felt like you were going around in circles talking about the past? 🤍

My aim is to talk with more people who 1) Didn't feel therapy was helpful 2) Went to therapy to be able to have the friendships, romantic relationships, community and support system but then made litttle to no progress in these areas....

For those of you that want to have a solid community of supportive, close friends, mentors, helping professionals...but you don't I feel confident I can help you. Going to therapy can make some people feel lost and confused .... and I get you. There is not enough people normalizing that there is nothing wrong with you if you didn't find therapy helpful. You might feel hurt, angry, lost, confused and honestly sad that things don't seem to be getting better. I completly understand you. 💞

I am offering an intensive program that would help to take what a therapist might be able to help you with in 3 years (if they can help with results in the first place) and boil that down to 3 months.... 💞 This program would allow me to deeply support a small group of people. People that feel that they are missing the important relationships, community, and support that they crave.

Please let me know for those of you that are curious or have questions. I can let you know if this sounds right for you and if it doesn't, I will do my best to see what others supports might work for you 🙂 Would love comments, questions, feedback, thoughts and those that are interested. Please also feel free to share your experience around if therapy helped you or didn't help you and why. Did you wish you could have seen results faster?

Hey all! I am very passionate about helping those who are experiencing loniliness or a lack of support systems/connections to overcome this experience and thrive in community and connection. I would love to offer telegram support around this for the rest of December. I am open to providing support around this for 3 clients for the rest of December.
