Calling all Southwest Little League Softballers!

SWLL coaches have been working to set up several off-season opportunities for SWLL players, and to hopefully recruit more SWLL players for the Spring season.

1) SWLL Fall Saturday Clinics! (Location: Chief Sealth Upper Field - Turf!)

*Sat 9/30: *Majors players: 9:30-11:30am & *Minors players: 11:30am-1:30pm

*Sat 10/7: *Majors players: 9:30-11:30am & *Minors players: 11:30am-1:30pm

*Sat 10/14: (this clinic will include mixed-division activities)
*Majors players: 9:30-11:30am & - *Minors players: 10:00am-12:00pm

*What is this?
Clinics will include infield/outfield drills, scrimmaging, hitting practice, friendly competitions, and more. A great chance to keep the gloves warm, get in some extra batting practice, and continue to grow the SWLL community

*Who may attend?
This is open to any softball players or wannabe softball players who live in OR goes to school in SWLL boundaries. 2023 players should definitely attend, and please invite other friends or siblings who might also be interested in softball and considering playing in 2024! We'd love to grow the league to 2 teams per division in the Spring season, so please do spread the word*** If you have a question about the boundaries or eligibility, please reach out

Majors players = 2011 & 2012 birthdays
Minors players = 2013 birthdays and younger
(*Please attend the session for the correct division. These are the birth years that will encompass divisions for the 2024 season. Please reach out if you have questions!)

*How much does it cost?
Nothing! SWLL is sponsoring these 3 clinics. Free for players!

*Is it okay to attend 1 or 2 of the clinics, and not all 3?
Yes! We'd love to see players attend all 3 weeks, but it is not required. We want to encourage as much participation as possible, so please have your player come to any of these that work with your family's schedule

*Do players need to RSVP and/or register?

The SWLL 8/10 All Star softball team will play tonight 7/7 vs. WSLL, 5:30 at Chief Sealth High School's upper field. Our 8/10 All Star baseball team will play tomorrow morning 7/8 vs. RDLL, 10AM at Normandy Park City Hall fields. Come out and support our teams!

Our Junior Baseball All-Stars are going to state! After a hard-fought District 7 tournament victory they will head to Cheney July 15th for the State tournament. Southwest Little League families and players,

It is with a very heavy heart that our league has made the tough decision to cancel our 2020 Little League Season. While both the board and many of our families were holding out hope that we would be able to play any sort of baseball this year, the challenges of our current situation have become too great to make that happen. The slow speed at which the Washington State reopening phasing plan is occurring in King County combined with the challenges we face to truly keep all our players and volunteers safe while playing baseball, has led to our decision to cancel the season.

That said, we are still proud of what we were able to accomplish this year, little though it may feel. We held a free player's clinic in January to introduce kids to the game of baseball - a big feat for our small league. And believe it or not, our participation numbers did grow this year - we were able to field a Juniors team (ages 13 & 14) for the first time in several years! While many of you did not get the chance to participate in even one practice, we are hopeful that many of you will return next year to experience all that Little League baseball has to offer our youth. (Hint - our online registration typically starts in January each year.)

Thank you all for your patience during this unprecedented time. Stay safe and hopefully we'll see you on the ball field next year!

Southwest Little League families,

I regret to inform you that due to concerns related to the COVID-19 virus, Southwest Little League - with guidance from our District 7 and Western Regional offices - will be cancelling all baseball activities effective tonight for at least the next 2 weeks. This is in line with school district closures in the area. Districts 7, 8, 9, and 10 (all within the greater Seattle area) are likely going to cancel their activities as well.

We hope this halt to baseball will be temporary and that we can reconvene our season as soon as possible. Please check email and GameChanger regularly for continued updates.
