We're back! After a hiatus, The Collective is back with our 2022 Winter Quarter show schedule-- first show is Friday, February 11th.

NEWB ALERT!!!

Meet Lukas! He's a second year International Studies major and second to none newb improvisor on The Collective! During quarantine, Lukas has been munching on artichokes anyway he can get them until he's interrupted by his phone buzzing. Is it Kylie Minogue? Is it one of his numerous friends asking to hang out? Surprise, it's a CampusWell email telling him to stay positive. Luckily, his mom made him go to college and make friends to help with that and he's found it here in The Collective! Lukas is loud and proud with his improv while trying to remain not-so secretly insecure.

NEWB ALERT!!!

Hello to Kafay!! She's a first year studying History Education and The Collective's newest Technical Improvisor! She'll be running it down on lights, music, and creating the atmosphere where improv thrives. Kafay loves to do technical improv because it feeds into her impulsive nature. That impulsiveness also drives her towards hats, taking pictures of the sky and plants, and long walks in the rain. Kafay is perfectly suited for The Collective since she grew up the eighth child out of TWELVE. Luckily we don't have to fight over a bathroom.

Meet Ruby! They're a freshman at UW and a performer on The Collective! Ruby is looking at Drama and Wildlife Conservation as a hopeful major. Ruby loves the wildlife so much they whittle animals out of blocks of wood! It's a pretty SICK hobby that makes cute little figures...even if it does result in lots of little cuts. We love having Ruby on board because she stands for inclusivity; she does improv for the girls and for the gays...THAT'S IT.

NEWB ALERT!!! Say hello to Bella! She's a first year at UW who's currently undecided on her major but is really interested in continuing her Spanish and studying linguistics. She got involved in improv after watching her long time pal perform and decided she needed to get in on the action! Outside of The Collective, Bella is busying herself singing show tunes or watching rom-coms. She loves long drives, sad indie music, and coming home to delicious Thai food or anything with onions ;)

NEWB SPOTLIGHT!!! Everyone meet Sammy! She's a first year looking to hopefully major in Drama. She definitely has the sea legs for improv from her 11 years of living on a boat! What's that like you ask? Pretty sweet apparently with her time being filled doing cryptid crosswords whilst snacking on a charcuterie board. Set sail with her during an improv show so she can make you laugh :D

Claudia's Inside Scoop - The Collective Moving right along with our member interviews, today we get to hear all about Claudia Valenta, our fearless co-director! In this episode, we cover her love of music, engineering, how she became director of the troupe, and how she reclaimed the Collective from tyrants with "A" names!

Back in January, the Collective performed at the Regional College Improv Tournament (CIT) at Jet City Improv, and we won! For the first time in recent history, we were invited to the National CIT stage! It was held this past weekend via Zoom. We performed alongside 8 of the best improv teams in the country. And.... WE CAME IN THIRD IN THE NATION! Thanks to everyone at CIT who made this possible, and congrats to all of the other teams who performed!

Yesterday we competed in the College Improv Tournament Northwest Regional & we are moving onto the finals later this spring!! We'll be competing against 9 other teams from around the country, & we're so excited to perform & learn more about improv alongside them. Thanks to all who came out to support!!(:

Meet Emma, one of our new members! Emma is a freshman studying Conservation Biology and minoring in Environmental Science and Resource Management, oooooh. Her favorite foods are fajitas and onion rings and her favorite Collective memory is watching the sexy sunset! Her improvising style depends on the day, but is usually full of wacky characters with funky names. An important thing to know about Emma is that she used to love Benjamin Franklin a LOT. You won’t want to miss Emma’s comedic debut with the Collective, so come out to our shows this year!

Claire is one of our newbs, and she’s the BOMB! Claire is a sophomore studying who knows?? She’ll let us know when she knows(: Her favorite food is actually THREE foods, being pomegranates, artichokes, and candy corn. Her favorite Collective memory is getting to talk to new homies, and who knows what her improvising style is?? But you can usually count on an old Russian man character to surface fairly often. A fun fact about her is that she is 50% Greek and 50% Estonian. Don’t forget to come out to our shows to watch Claire’s debut!!
