backstage butterflies! the .turkish.folk.dancers took the stage this morning as part of a multicultural showcase to present two dances: a lively Trakya medley and Erik Dalı, using wooden spoons to keep rhythm! 🥰

Join the Anadolu Turkish Folk Dancers at the 53rd Annual Northwest Folklife Festival this weekend at Seattle Center for two programs presenting dances from Türkiye!

On Saturday, May 25 at 11am in the Bagley Wright Theatre we'll perform two dances during the “Arabic, Persian and Turkish dance” showcase alongside Karina Melikyan, Shula Azhar, Karavans Dance Troupe, Raqs al Nujum, Seattle Qabila Project, and Nadira!

On Sunday, May 26 at 3:55pm in the Exhibition Hall, the Anadolu Turkish Folk Dancers will present a vibrant 45 min program of dance, live music, and storytelling highlighting regional traditions, ceremonies, and celebrations across Türkiye that you don't want to miss!

From Artvin, Edirne, Izmir, Istanbul Sulukule, Trabzon Akçaabat, Silifke, Van, all the way to Burdur, join us for "Touring Anatolia Through Dance!"

Northwest Folklife celebrates the diverse tapestry of arts, cultures, and traditions emanating from a global Pacific Northwest. The festival is FREE to attend!

costume committee called it a night after 7 hours of sorting, labeling, and arranging multiple complex wardrobe changes for each of 20 dancers!

this weekend at the .turkish.folk.dancers will present dances from Artvin, Edirne, Izmir, Istanbul Sulukule, Trabzon Akçaabat, Silifke, Van, and Burdur! each region boasts its own traditional colors, patterns, textiles, embroidery, and accessories.
