It’s release day! 🎉

My book Orbit is finally released! If you pre-ordered on Kindle it should be available for you to download and read now. For those of you who are waiting for a physical copy the hardback and paperback are currently in the process of populating into the Amazon store. So hang tight. Just one week to go until my new book of poems Orbit is released. To celebrate that, and the fact that I am terrible at self promotion, I recorded this reading of the poem Diet taken from the book.

When I write this I started thinking how the act of dieting to lose weight is a lot like trying to give up on a broken unhealthy relationship. You feel the desire to consume more of it even though you know it’s bad for you. The act of the diet is to reduce the cravings for those unhealthy relationships or foods, so we can find better more healthier options. As humans we have very strong appetites and on top of that, fantastically acute memories and imaginations. I tried to express that here.

I am delighted to announce that I have a new book of poetry that will be released on the 1st September 2023. This book was written over a period of 4 years, during which time our world changed A LOT! For long periods of time I found it almost impossible to write anything, but every now and then I would get a week or a day where I felt I had something to say. And eventually ORBIT appeared!

It’s really a miracle it happened at all, but now it is almost here, I couldn’t be more proud of it. I still haven’t fully regained my inspiration to write. I thought for a good chuck of the last couple of years that I might not have anything left to say. And maybe this is all I have left to say. Maybe this is the last book, I don’t know. But regardless of whether it is or isn’t, I am happy this book is here for one more go round.

It is with great pleasure I can reveal the front cover for my new book of Selected Poems, Life Begins at Forty. Once again my super talented wife, Heather has produced this masterpiece and showed great patience with my flip-flopping on ideas like the legend she is. I am so happy with how this turned out. Life Begins At Forty: 40 Selected Poems will be released on February 22nd, 2022, which just so happens to be my 40th birthday! The poems are a selection of some of the best poems I have written over the last 14 years. 26 of the 40 poems are from currently out of print books and are unavailable anywhere else. The collection will contain specially re-written versions of my first ever poem, The Beach and the poem Winter, both of which are previously unpublished. Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks.

Hello! I have been pretty quiet on here for the last few weeks. But I have been busy with some book work. For those of you that don’t know, I will be releasing a book of selected poems in February next year on my 40th birthday. The book will be titled Life Begins at Forty and will contain a selection of poems from my first 10 books, over half of which are currently out of print. The collection will include new versions of The Beach, my very first poem which has never been published before, and Winter, a poem from my third book MoonJar, as well as a broad selection from my other publications. Hey friends, happy Friday! I have some news I want to share with you all. Next year is a big year for me. I turn 40 for one 😆 and also I plan on releasing two books. The first will be a collection of 40 poems selected from my previous 10 books. That will be called Life Begins at Forty and will be released around my birthday in February. The second will be a collection of brand new pieces that I have been writing since late 2019. That will likely be released later in 2022. As I gear up for these releases I will be sharing some of the pieces with you all here and may even do some readings for you all. Here is an excerpt from one of those new poems for you all. Sitting in the Flowers. I don’t like to call it writers block, but things have been a little slow for me on the creative front over the last year. Bits and pieces here and there, but hard work to get anything that felt like a complete piece finished. I felt I needed to get out of that head space for a while, so took a step back from social media to focus on trying to learn some other skills, and try some new things out. It was fun, but I feel ready to get back to my true passion. Writing. This mural that sits in the P-Patch close to where I live seems to resonate with me right now. Hope you all are having a great weekend.
