✨Future Fern Feature! 🌿 Psychedelic indie rock band, Jaill, formed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2002. In 2009, the band signed to Sub Pop Records, propelling them out of the local music scene and onto the national stage. "Cranes" was a cassette released on Burger Records in 2013. Their music is described as psych-pop, with up-beat guitar and punk music matched with dark lyrics. In recent years, Vincent Kircher, the front man for Jaill, has released some solo tunes and still plays shows in Milwaukee sometimes. Some fun tunes from the @future_fern music department to brighten your Thursday! ✨ Ciccone Youth • The Whitey Album (Cassette) The Whitey Album is an album by Ciccone Youth, a side project of Sonic Youth. More of a good-natured prank than an actual band, Ciccone Youth was a brief experiment where Sonic Youth explored their obsession with pop culture, specifically Madonna. (Her last name is (was?) Ciccone) Unlike their other albums, drum machines and samplers are the base layer but Sonic Youth's trademark dissonance and experimental methods still permeate throughout! 🌀 Come check out our music collection and bring something new home 🎶
It’s supposed to be another chilly day on Sunday, so it’s a perfect opportunity to come check out the 1887 exhibition in our lower level gallery before the weather gets really nice 🤩 ✨1️⃣8️⃣8️⃣7️⃣✨ The newest exhibition in our lower level gallery gets its name from the year our building was built: 1887. 135 years ago, a bookstore (E.F.W. Zimmerman) opened at 817 New York Ave and, since then, many stories have been created within the walls there. We’re happy to be part of the history at 817, along with the artists we display! New soundscapes for ya from the desk of Charles! 💛Chicago has been a musically rich area for a long time. Blues and house music were both developed here—and they paved the way for so many other styles, spanning from rock ’n roll to EDM! The Great Migration brought traditional jazz and blues music to The Windy City, resulting in Chicago blues and "Chicago-style" Dixieland jazz and soul music.
