The Duca Designs website has recently had a minor update. This update covered a few basic fixes as well as additions to the portfolio section.

A major update will be up and running in the next few days. This will include :

-New Layout
-New Pages
-Professionally written type
-Easy to use forms
-Extra insight into the design process

No need to over do it. A small tasteful amount of advertising in the appropriate markets will net better results than advertising at random.

Since the coding for the new Duca Designs site went haywire a few weeks back, I've decided to make some quick fixes to the original to hold it over until the new one is complete. When it comes to branding your business, guessing is never a good call.

This has to be the most genius idea anyone has ever had EVER.

Happy memorial day everyone. While many celebrate this day with barbeques and get togethers, lets not forget the brave men and women that fought and gave their lives for this county. Have a great day everyone.

Sometimes you want to get an idea out about your business so badly, it comes out sloppy and rushed. Rather than risk making a fool of yourself in front of your target market, you may wish to consider bringing in designers for wise council.

Believe it or not, there is such a thing as 'over doing it'. Using too many design elements in your companies branding can overwhelm your audience, and possibly lose potential clients.

Unless you're doing it on purpose, double check, then triple check to make sure your company name or branding tactics don't come back to bite you in the ass.

When you take on a client, make sure you know what you're doing. Never promise more than you can handle for a design job. It's only going to hurt you in the end.

Be who you are and do what you love to do. What defines you? What makes you unique? Exploit these traits and build yourself up! Your career hardly defines who you are as a human being.

Happy Mothers day everyone! Be sure to give your mother / grandmother / step mother / foster mother a big hug and thank them for all they've done for you. Talk about the good times, and remind them of those embarrassing and inappropriate baby pictures she took of you. Ask where she put them. Destroy them.

Don't imitate your competition. Outdo them. Be unique and creative, and you just might leave your competition in the dust. Then if they imitate you, sue them. Or write them a nice letter filled with curse words. Either or.

Beautiful mistakes happen more times during the design process than can be expected. As a designer, it's important to take advantage of them when you can. Showing the client these unique errors might be a good idea too! Count out nothing unique when it comes to design.

How are you advertising yourself compared to your competition? You may be losing potential clients without even knowing it. Taking a fresh look at your companies branding just might save your bacon.

Lets be totally honest. Sometime a deal isn't a deal at all. It's important to hash out what good work will cost ahead of time before offering some bogus price. At Duca Designs, you will always get what you pay for.
