Human beings are plants with complicated feelings. Depression is expected, but not always present in everyone. You and the people around you, should let you grieve the life you had prior to your stroke/brain injury. You did not just have a flu. You had a neurological event, and it does not matter if it's mild or severe. But you don't have to let your depression take the wheel.
What has helped you overcome your depression? How have you addressed your mental health?

Low tone getting you down? Low tone is better than no tone. Keep working on it! Hypotonicity is different from flaccidity, and it's good to know if you have moved out of the no tone zone. Where do you, or your clients, think you (they) are now?
You will always be different today than you were yesterday. It's your choice if you want to be BETTER or WORSE. You've already experienced the bad with your circumstance, start seeing the good. Are positive affirmations helpful for you?
You don't have to wait for your affected side to get better before you actually use it. There are ways and equipment that can enhance engagement while you recover. These are temporary. You have to focus on remediating versus compensating, since it is easier to learn the right thing off the bat, than trying to correct an error in movement. What strategies have helped you be as independent in your day to day?

Most studies state that early intervention is key to recovery. But never discount the fact that brains continuously heal. Neuroplasticity does not skip a person. How much has time helped you heal? How much time have you lost thinking that you will never recover?
What does it take to recover? Is it easy? Should you give up after 6 months?
https://www.themobilebrain.com/4rs-neurorecovery/
Spasticity is velocity dependent. That means, the faster or quicker you move that arm or leg, the more your tone will act up, the less control you'll have.
Remember: Your brain and body is trying to catch up on each other. Move slow and deliberate.
What other strategies have you tried? Does the time of day have affect your tone? How about your mood? level of activity? Meals?
With brain recovery, oftentimes the amount of quality rest, and sleep are taken for granted. Grounding exercises such as mindfulness and deep breathing are essential for the WHOLE brains’ healing.
Mindfulness exercises both relax the brain, and stimulate further neuroplasticity.
Take a few minutes out of your day to be kind to yourself. Continuous movement is not the only way for brains to get better.
