Thank you St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 & AutismJeep Fam for hanging out with our AUSOME friends yesterday! What a way to end our favorite month of the year!! 🤍

As this year comes to an end, we would love to tell you about all our accomplishments/events and say thank you to those who have made this year so successful.

On February 5th, some of our group members were able to participate in the Pearl River Parade. The train was sponsored by Miley Meds Pharmacy. Bayou Kids also donated some goodies for our kiddos to throw!

On March 17, we became an OFFICIAL 501c3 Nonprofit.

On June 17th, we hosted an AUSOME Summer Dance Party at The Collab Slidell.

On June 24th, Where y’at 4X4 and Geaux-AWOL.com hosted our very first fundraising event at NOLA Motorsports Park. Thank you to everyone who made that event possible and for your generous donation!! Thank you AutismJeep Fam for nominating us to be the charity of choice!

On August 26th, we hosted an AUSOME Back to School Glow Party at Fluff Gourmet Fairy Floss.

On October 7th, we hosted a Mini Farm Event at farmer in the 'dell.

On December 2nd and 10th, we hosted Sensory Sunday with The Cringles Aka Santa Claus & Mrs. Claus at Altitude Trampoline Park in both Slidell and Mandeville. Treats were made by SugarbyKay.

On December 14th, we decorated a Christmas tree at Slidell's Bayou Christmas. The ornaments on the tree were made by our AUSOME friends and the tree topper was made by Skylar HG.

This past year our private group has had 975 posts, 6,985 comments, and 10,044 reactions, we also currently have 1,065 active members!

We would like to say thank you again to everyone! Thank you to the parents for entrusting us with your AUSOME kiddos, thank you to the community and all of volunteers for opening your arms to us! Thank you for any/all donations, that's what helps fund our events throughout the year!

We're working on some pretty amazing things for 2024! We hope that y'all follow along to see what we have planned!

It's October, y'all know what that means, it's AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication) Awareness Month!!!

Facts about AAC devices:
🤍 People who use AAC to communicate love to chat just as much as you do!
🤍 AAC can encourage speech development, not hinder it.
🤍 People who use AAC need access to many different types of AAC — from sign language and pen and paper all the way up to speech-generating devices.
🤍 A patient attitude is an effective tool in communicating with people who use AAC.
🤍 People who use AAC need access to an appropriate AAC system that is not restricted to selection based on their assumed abilities.
🤍 People who use AAC have various levels of independence. Don’t assume they need an assistant.
🤍 It may look as if people who use AAC are not communicating, but people can control whole AAC systems with any body part, including their eyes!
🤍 AAC competence can take a long time to build.
🤍 Today, AAC strategies, tools, and technologies enable more than 2 million children and adults in the United States to gain access to their human and civil rights to communicate.

The farm has Mini cows, mini donkey, mini pony, micro pony, mini pig, mini goats, mini sheep, and bunnies. Depending on the temp, she may bring out the chinchillas, a Guinea pig, and hedgehogs.

Hey everyone!!! This is Jacob, he is seven years old and definitely keeps whoever is around him on their toes!! He has the best belly laughs (even tho I maybe a little bias being mom), and overall happy go lucky personality. He is finishing up first grade @ Cypress Cove, and has been doing an amazing job! He loves tickles, squeezes, hugs, kisses 😘 and he will say please after too!!

His favorite sayings (probably coming from morphile on Netflix) is “you kidding me?” “Don’t worry guys!” If you ever speak with him, you will hear his sweet voice.

He loves seeing all of his ausome friends!! 🧩💙

FYI, Joey, the guy in the picture, drew Buoy our Ski-Dawg mascot way back when we first started. At our very first clinic with Metroplex Adaptive Water Sports, it was just me and him.

Here’s a bio written by her!
I am a passionate public health student committed to a world where all individuals and communities can thrive. I am driven by the belief that only through community-based participatory research and action, we will be able to create the change we want to. I started with the pursuit of becoming a dermatologist, which is still a goal of mine. I certainly wanted to make a difference in the healthcare community beforehand. I felt health education was where I needed to be.
Along with studying for my certification, I want to gain as much experience as I can about my community. I have experience working with peers at the Slidell Memorial Community Outreach center, where the information and expertise were endless, and I plan to expand more.
