Cupping - Achilles Repair    Myofascial cupping has been around since the early 19th century but only recently has the image of purple circles on athlete’s backs created attention to the practice of cupping.     The basic premise of the cups is to provide suction to decompress the underlying tissues. We’re using the RockPods by @rocktape to manipulate the fascia and promote more mobility after Achilles repair. 💥 Eccentric Hamstring MREs 💥     An eccentric muscle contraction is when the muscle is lengthening as it contracts. Eccentric training can improve both strength and flexibility. The hamstrings need to learn how to contract eccentrically (especially after surgery) because they act as our brakes when we run to slow down the leg.     Here we’re starting manual resisted eccentric hamstring curls 5 weeks post-op ACLR. We are cueing him to slowly control his leg down to the table as the PT provides the load. ACL Rehab - Early Phase Strength     4 weeks post-op     Strength training early and often is one of the most important concepts in ACL rehab. We need to start loading the muscles early in order to progress to the next phase of rehab. Many athletes are still significantly under loaded in their ACL rehab, setting them up for failure when it comes time to return to play.     Here at Block Sports we like to challenge our athletes in fun and dynamic ways in the gym, not on the treatment table.
