Grooming tips💡 with Brenda - :

Use a metal comb to see if you can run through coat smoothly. If you can, you’re in the clear. If not, then proceed to line brushing with a slicker brush.
Start brushing the hair at the lowest point on the body. Meaning, instead of starting at the top of the head, you would start near the butt area. You would also start at the feet when working on the legs. Part hair. Brush the hair beneath the Part with slicker brush. Make sure the area is brushing smoothly. Part the hair about an inch above, and repeat. This is line brushing.
Keep in mind that the longer you try and get mats out of the dog’s coat, the more discomfort and pain your dog will experience. The LAST thing you want is to traumatize your dog to the point it gets scared of being brushed ever again. “Humanity over vanity”, fellow pet parents.

If you’re spending more than 15 minutes on de-matting but there’s no end in sight, then your dog should be shaved.
(Don’t worry. It’s just hair & will grow back sooner than you know it!)
