On Sunday, September 1, we will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the most important Revolutionary-era event to happen in Somerville: the Powder Alarm. Often called the dress rehearsal of Lexington and Concord, the Powder Alarm of 1774 triggered a militia uprising at Cambridge Common, showing both patriot leaders and the royal governor that Massachusetts farmers were ready to confront the British government.
