Here are a few of our handsome guys. We have Butt, Donkey, Cheeks, and Blossom. (We are currently being overrun with roosters, so unfortunately not all of these guys with stay; but they are still my favs).

We have been very lucky (so far) with these big teddy bears. They take great care of the ladies and also have learned to respect the kiddo we have running around.

It has been back to back babies for the last couple of days (a new set every 12 hours). And while I am over all disappointed that I didn't get the doelings I was hoping for, had 70% bucklings, and a couple of still orns, I am still so proud of my girls! We ended up with a really small number of kids (8 living, 10 total between 5 does). The girls totally rocked birthing and needed very little intervention; overall an extremely easy birthing year!

I will be posting individual pictures of the kids once we all settle in. But they are Crash, Valentine, Love, Sorrel, Pepperoni, Sardine, Olive, and Splenda.

Late night delivery for the 1st baby of the season! This little guy is so cute. His name is Crash. Serena, his momma, did so great! We didn't even hear her in labor and she had him all cleaned up and fed before we even knew he was here. She is a great momma goat!

He will be ready for a new home in just 4 weeks as a bottle baby.

Well the Christmas tree came down today and so pine needle soda, pine vinegar, and pine infused olive oil happened!

I also still have an absolute TON of needles left from stripping the tree and now I have to figure out what to do with the rest of them.

Someday I will be able to repaint my kitchen and get rid of the weird vines in the background🙈

*Pine needle note: Make sure you know where your tree came from (mine came from the literal middle of a forest where there are no pesticides sprayed).

Ginger Bug, Pickled Peppers, and FINALLY active sourdough starter!

Things have been taking a lot longer to get going than I had planned here, but I'm trying to remember that I'm on my own journey. We are working to become more self-sufficient and healthy in the ways that work for MY family!

Betty (the sourdough starter) has been the bane of my existence for MONTHS. It seemed that no matter what I did I couldn't get to an active starter! Well today, after switching things up again, I finally have starter to use!! And I didn't even kill her this time!

I know that I lean heavily into carbonated beverages and decided that it was time to work on making some of my own without having to buy another machine. I want the probiotics offered in naturally fermented drinks, so ginger bug is the first in my list to try.

Since I have Betty ready to go, I decided to make a loaf of jalapeno cheese bread tomorrow. Thus, I needed pickled jalapenos! Threw this together in about 15 minutes, most of which was spent just getting ready to cut the jalapenos. (Little known fact about me; I'm allergic to hot peppers, the oil in raw peppers specifically. Once they are pickled or cooked I'm fine...but I looked like a space alien outside in the dark with giant rubber gloves and a full face mask just to cut the dang things). Tomorrow they should be ready for the bread though (I know they will be even better in a week or so, but I'm impatient 🤷‍♀️

Smalls and her bantam chicken Macchiato just chillin doing some worksheets.

This is her favorite chicken. Macchiato often finds herself at Small's desk.

Turkey has been cooking since 3:30 am!

I have wanted to slow roast a turkey for a few years now and this is the year it is finally happening.

It will cook at 180 degrees for roughly 13 hours and then at 425 for an additional 30 minutes to crisp up the skin and gice it down color.

The turkey is stuffed with a couple limes, an orange, a massive amount of garlic, and an onion. Garlic butter is rubbed under its skin too!

🤞 It turns out!

Getting in the Thanksgiving spirit.

Whipped this guy up. He was a lot more difficult than planned and turned out a little wonky, but it was a fun little project.

11/17/2023

Alice has about 4 loose loose teeth and I have been putting off making her the tooth door hanger she has been waiting for.

Whipped this cutie up this morning with Alice's smile of choice.

Our Toothfairy is notoriously late and can even take weeks or months to finally pick up a tooth. We have decided to try something new this time (teeth left outside of the room).

We also have a pretty generous Toothfairy that usually brings a small gift or two (depending on how long it takes her to show up😬), so a tooth door hanger makes more sense for us.

It's been so long since I've posted!

Things took a trip... literally and I've had to be off my feet for almost 2 months now. This means all of my fall plans were completely dashe, but it also gave me some time to experiment with some new yarns!

This little guy is up for grabs. Send me a message if interested 😁

Tried my hand at gnocchi from scratch yesterday.

Lesson 1: Gnocchi is VERY filling and I do not need to make a double batch
Lesson 2: Not a meal to try on a busy night...at least not yet
Lesson 3: It makes a mess
Lesson 4: You need more flour than you think (a lot more flour)
Lesson 5: Get a pasta board

I made an onion French drip gnocchi and it was yummy. While it was frustrating and does have a learning curve, it is a great way to stretch a dollar...and who does need to know how to do that?

We might have created a monster!

Baby Arnold is a totally spoiled goat; I mean really really spoiled.

Smalls and Arnold are the best of friends. We are so excited he has an extra special home to go to when he is weaned. Bonus points for the ability to visit him frequently!

Such a pretty basket!

I still have lots of colors I'd like to add, but for now I'm just so excited to have a colorful basket and lots of eggs to feed the family.

I keep saying I need a break...this is not what I meant!

See next pic for the guilty party. Darn you Shrek!!

Oh my goodness! Baby Arnold just had the best day! He got to meet some new friends, go on a car ride, and even rode a horse🤣

As always Smalls was happy to lend a hand.

Thanks and one of our favorite horses, Diego, for the fun!

Let's take a second to meet Black & Beauty! Named by our own resident Smalls.

Black & Beauty got to spend some much needed quality time in the house with the humans, kittens, and dogs. And of course their brother Baby Arnold!

Beauty is inquisitive and shy, where Black is bold and daring but definitely more skittish.

We love having the babies on property and always miss them when they are gone.

This one hits a little harder since we are looking for loving pet homes for both of our foster kitties and these 3 totally lovable goats.

Photos from Foye Hollow Farm's post 09/06/2023

We are so very excited that our little Arnold is getting around now. He still has a long way to go and his legs are still very bowed, but we are hopeful that, with continued therapy, he will turn into a very happy yard goat (not with us but in a wonderful pet home).

Check out our next post for his playdate with his brother and sister (Black & Beauty).
