This cookie has been a long time coming. I have been dreaming on it and waiting for the perfect day for it for almost 2 years.
A long time ago, mine and my husband’s closest friends, Brandon and Josie asked me if I’d ever had Elote. I hadn’t. But they described it and it sounded AMAZING. Well, I never saw it for sale anywhere, so I made it myself at home and LOOOOOOVED it. And then one day, shortly after Brandon’s passing, I saw Elote for sale at the Faire while I was working. Obviously I bought one, and it blew the pants off the homemade version I tried to do.
I knew I’d have to make a cookie version of it, but how? I planned and planned and waited and waited for the right time.
And with today being Cinco de Mayo, and tomorrow being the Vendor Event at my old stomping grounds, Old Town Columbia, I felt like it was just the right time to unveil Brandon’s Cookie. These are for you buddy; an American/Mexican crossover dessert I know you’d love. I promise I’ll bring Josie some to enjoy for you ❤️ I’ll see you in Heaven someday, bro. Thank you for all the laughs, memories, support and inspiration you gave to us all.

Did you know our pretzels dipped in Elephant Garlic Aioli was one of the very first things that sparked the plan of bringing more local vendors into the shop? Before we even opened our doors, I met Wade at during the celebration in 2022.
We simply couldn’t deprive y’all of the opportunity to taste this magic!
Wade is a Veteran, his farm is just outside of beautiful Angels Camp, he grows the Elephant Garlic himself, and his Aioli is the best sauce I’ve ever had. So far, I’ve eaten it on pretzels, many types of sandwiches, fried catfish, French fries, chips, burgers, and the next time we go fishing, and I plan to grill the fish filets with it slathered over top. It really is that good y’all 😂

I painted this abstract Octopus in the background almost exactly 6 years ago, either in April or May of 2017. and I had just started dating, and he’s an avid crafter like I am. We would stay up late after our shifts at Walmart, eating ice cream and I would paint, he would sculpt, and we would just enjoy being near each other without having to say a word. This and two other similar paintings now sit in our closet, waiting for the right room to be hung in, reminding me every time I pick an outfit, how much I miss painting.
I’m always grateful for the cakes I get to make with full artistic freedom, just a color or a concept for inspiration, and the rest being left up to me and my abstract mind.
It reminds me of painting, you just get to eat it 😋

To say that I’m grateful to have Janna is an understatement. Actually it’s THE understatement of the year.
I am honored to share with her my recipes, techniques and secrets, and I am ecstatic when she exceeds me! This girls’ got a few years on me baking-wise, but in all those years rarely was awarded the space or extra time between life/business to create new and especially time consuming things.
If I were more cliché I’d say, “watching her talent blossom has been such a surprise each day,” but really I’m not surprised!
She’s been creating unique flavor experiences at any turn she can, at least since I’ve known her. Basically if you stopped at Pineapple Habanero, let me tell you something…you need to dive further. That’s why I wanted to partner with her from the get-go! Building our dreams alongside each other and sharing our knowledge in order to grow…that’s community.

Breauna here….did you know when I started Calculated Whisks, I could hardly make a cake? I didn’t have the goal of ‘cake artist’. But, in my first year baking, I made 15/+! Each one was a learning experience that I will ALWAYS be grateful for.
From those amateur cakes blossomed an entire wedding cake-focused career; who would have thought?
In addition to that, I’ve had the opportunity to be asked to make iced sugar cookies, birthday cakes, & all sorts of beautiful things.
Those have been the most often ordered, & so, the most often posted/seen…

Im an avid Pie & Pastry fan. The very first thing I sold, before ever officially becoming licensed, were fruit tarts in sable crust. The first thing I baked out of bread, tart, pastry, macarons, dummy cake, for my first product shoot with (swipe to see) was the croissants & danish.

Janna is learning on the job, as co-owner here, just like I was doing in 2019. She’s filling the case with cupcakes(which I outright refuse to make 98% of the time 🤷‍♀️), working on her cookie-icing skills, & most importantly, ENJOYS baking these sweet, sugar iced confections.
❤️I’ve been doing it for several years & have earned myself a little bit of a break. I’ve not vacationed & even during my “maternity leave”, during which I had surgery, I made exceptions to provide my supportive clients with cake/sugar cookies.
So I’m going to be baking for my heart for a while…

So I tested out the Tester bottle of .megan Goat Milk Lotion yesterday and my hands are still sooooo soft today (and if you’ve ever worked in food service, you know with all the hand washing, how rare it is that our hands are soft!)
We have two scents in stock; Lavender and Sweet Dreams. There is also a beautiful assortment of soaps available (and I kinda can’t wait to share a pic of that shelf with you! It’s hanging from the ceiling it’s neat! Lol) All of the soaps and lotions are made with Goat Milk from goats who graze on the grass and trees over in Copperopolis.
I’ve actually visited Singleton Farms once, when they let us adopt some of their chickens after we had lost ours to raccoons!
That’s the beauty of small business and family farms ❤️
