Wow, another ICOMonday!! Today we are introducing you all to Sam! This year, Sam is working as one of our Coordinators for Diversity and Inclusion as well as one of the two Staff Community Coordinators.
After absolutely thriving at Camp this past summer, Sam is beyond excited to help bring the next group of staffers to Stanford Sierra Camp!! Sam (‘21) spent her first summer working as a tennis instructor, leading morning fitness classes, baking delicious bread during bread bake workshops, and whipping up scrumptious milkshakes in the Fountain store. Camp was transformative in helping Sam grow both personally and professionally, plus she lived each day to the fullest and gained numerous life-long friendships!
Back on campus, Sam is a senior studying Product Design and is excited to stay at school for another year to receive her Masters in Sustainability Science and Practice! She is also a member of the Stanford Native Community, was a former heptathlete on the Varsity Women’s Track & Field team, and now regularly visits the Educational Farm to help with harvesting on campus. As both a Coordinator for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and a Staff Community Coordinator, Sam is passionate about building an inclusive staff community and beyond. Please reach out to Sam if you have any questions at all or are hesitant in applying to Camp because of other summer opportunities (she’s been there too, but does not regret working Camp over a summer internship one bit)!!!!!

It's our last ICOMonday! Meet Austin, a junior studying Computer Science from Thousand Oaks, CA. He can't wait to make it back to Camp next summer! Applying to Camp last year was the most important decision he's made at Stanford so far and he can't wait to share the Camp love with all of you! He spent half his summer helping cook some delicious food in the Chicken [kitchen] and the other chasing down the Menehunes and fell in love with those crazy 7 and 8 year olds. As a Coordinator for Diversity and Inclusion, he's really excited to help hire a summer staph that's representative of Stanford's amazing diversity. He’d love to tell you about all the amazing jobs there are at Camp and why you should definitely apply to have the most transformative summer of your life!
Special Shifts
Everyone has a main job at camp but a portion of a stapher's schedule is made up of ~~special~~ shifts. This could be working meals, lifeguarding, serving wine, running a puppet show, making milkshakes, or leading a book discussion. You can even make your own! Visit our website to read more: http://ssc.stanford.edu/special-shifts/
ssc.stanford.edu While half of a typical Camp schedule is based on the staff position (kids' programming, individual instruction, etc), the rest of the time is mostly spent taking care of Camp's basic needs like meal service, life guarding, boat dock, and housekeeping. However, there are a number of special shifts t...
