Many people wait far too long to act on these problems, even after they have become acutely aw
Tuesday, October 15, 2024 Post Hurricane Helene Update:
In the hopes that we don't jinx anything, it seems that we have both phones and internet today (so far). We are going to relish in this miracle of miracles for as long as it lasts and get to work!
Post-Hurricane Helene Update - Monday, October 14, 2024:
Our phone systems are down this morning. This is a service provider issue that does not seem to be related to our ongoing issues with stable internet connectivity with Spectrum. Still, it's obviously affecting our ability to communicate with clients, other offices, and the Courts this morning.
Our internet service seems to be working, though there have been glitches in our connectivity this morning, so if you need to reach our team, email is the best bet for now. We will post further updates once services have returned to normal.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. Stay safe!
Post Hurricane Helene Update - Monday, October 7, 2024:
After having our internet service restored briefly last week (albeit, with speeds reminiscent of the dial-up modem era), Spectrum’s services in our area went down again on Saturday morning.
Therefore, all of our business services that require internet (phones, case management, email, network printer, etc) are down again today. We have been assured (like most of Spartanburg) that this is temporary and they are working to get us back online as quickly as possible.
We thank you for your patience and understanding as we all navigate this unprecedented event for the Upstate of SC.

POST HURRICANE HELENE UPDATE - OCTOBER 3, 2024
The Stevens Law Group, LLC finally regained power and internet, and we are just beginning to reopen as of Tuesday, October 1st.
However, as of Wednesday, October 2nd, our internet service has been spotty and unreliable at best. Our phone systems, digital files, case management system, and our billing systems all require steady, secure internet access to work properly. To say this has impacted our ability to work as efficiently as we’d like to is an understatement.
We now know that our mail delivery, and much of the USPS mail service for the western Carolinas and eastern TN, has also been affected and slowed down considerably given the widespread power outages that have affected our post offices.
Much of Spartanburg, Greenville, Anderson, Laurens, Union, and Cherokee Counties, are still recovering from Hurricane Helene. While the impacts are widespread and serious here in SC, they pale in comparison to what our neighbors to the north in Western North Carolina are facing.
Please rest assured that we are working hard to triage what has arrived for our cases since we closed the office for the storm on Thursday, September 26, while also triaging the needs of our team and our neighbors as our communities try to get back on their feet.
Please bear with us this week as we work to get back up to speed as quickly as possible. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented weather emergency.

Our firm will be closed on Monday, September 30, 2024. Like most of Spartanburg, we are still without power, internet, and phones. We aren't getting clear guidance from Duke Energy or Spectrum Internet yet on when to expect a return of services so we're taking this day-by-day. We will be checking emails as we have cell phone hotspot availability to do so and will triage matters as quickly as possible.
We thank you for your patience, we are ever so grateful for our first responders and the countless utility workers who are coming from near and far to help our neighbors in the Upstate, North GA, East TN, and most especially our beloved Western NC neighbors to the north. We have all been through something we will never forget, but some have lost everything and so many people remain missing four days after what I'm sure will be the storm of our lifetimes.
We know our communities will come back from this, but we also know it will not be a quick or short road to a full recovery. We will be here to help our communities and our clients wherever and however we are able.
We are reminded that when all the modern conveniences of life are stripped from us in an instant, it really is our families and our neighbors who matter the most. The stuff and the things can be replaced, but those we love most are irreplaceable.
Stay safe. Help others. Be kind.

This weekend marked a significant milestone as our Senior Partner, Ben Stevens, currently at the helm of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) as this year's President, successfully led his first Executive Committee meeting. Under his leadership and with the collective efforts of the unparalleled skills of the dedicated professionals making up the Executive Committee, the national organization is setting a transformative agenda for the year.
Ben, along with the other committee members enjoyed hosting a recruitment reception for attorneys interested in applying for Fellowship in the AAML. The reception turnout was wonderful and the legal talent of OK was well-represented.
As the work of the weekend came to a close, Ben expressed his immense gratitude for the dedication of the professionals from across the nation who make up this year's Executive Committee who have devoted untold hours to the AAML's mission of excellence and innovation throughout the landscape of matrimonial law. Together, they are shaping the future of family law and ensuring that the AAML continues to uphold the highest standards of practice and advocacy now and well into the future.
