Cat Glitter Sewing

Hello! I’m Ashley, lover of all things cats and sewing. Planning to sell my makes in 2024!
My sewing has been slow so far in 2024, mostly due to not having a machine for a week. But now that my new one is up and running, I got this little belt bag done today.
It’s so dang pretty. And the little pleats on the front add a touch of class that I’m fond of.
I’ve been procrastinating on webbing though. What color belt would you put on here? The pink I have isn’t a good match, but debating if I could get away with a purple. Or a charcoal.
Once I figure out a strap this one is going up for sale!
When I was researching machines, I read someone jammed 18 layers of canvas in their HD9 and it didn’t even flinch.
Part of me was like “who needs 18 layers of canvas anyway?”
…but of course once I got fired up I went, “I wonder how many layers of vinyl I can do?”
I folded up a scrap to 8 layers thick. Just because.
Guess what? She didn’t even flinch. Not even a skipped stitch. 😱 This is gonna be so much fun.
Sometimes I get a lot done in an hour of sewing. Sometimes I have to unpick the same topstitching five times because my sewing machine is a moody B 🤬
So today you get a picture of my supurrvisor hard at work, because I don’t want to talk about my project 😂
And I sent my machine to bed without supper.
I got to dig deep in my stash for this order. I bought the marble pattern over a year ago, and the cats I’ve had for probably four!
These three cute little belt bags headed off to their new home today. The more I make them, the more I want one for me 😂
I’m trying out a new pattern next, can’t wait to compare the two!
It’s only the second day of 2024 and I’m already leveling up my skills!
I had a feeling today was a bad day for a white shirt. But I ignored it.
Cue preschooler face planting off the dining room bench 🤦♀️ But hey, now I know how to get blood out of clothing.
Which, considering I am a klutz and regularly stab/cut/stick myself while sewing, it’s a skill that will likely come in handy. And hey! My MySpace bathroom selfie skills are still on point after all these years, right?
Probably better ways to break in my new shirt though 😂
Did some fun holiday sewing while kiddo is on break. With help of my supurrvisor, of course.
I got a bag of scraps for free from a local sewing school, and since they’re mostly Christmas fabric they’ve been sitting for forever. Finally whipped them out and made some reusable gift wrap.
Are the seams straight? Nope. Is anything square? Nope.
Did we have fun seeing how fast my serger goes?
You betcha! 😂
These wallet inserts are a love/hate thing for me.
I love when they’re done, and they look so good! 😍 I am not a patient person, so doing more intricate things like this can be hard for me.
And that’s the hate. They take soooooo long. The rest of the bags these belong to will take less time than just this pocket 🙃
But they are pretty rad, aren’t they? Don’t mind the threads, they’ll all get sucked up in seams here shortly.
Help me pick 😅
This floral is one of my all-time favorite prints. I snagged a yard from a destash, and just when it thought I had coordinating fabrics for it… I found another option.
Which would you pick? Jewel tones or bright tones?
Pretty sure this is his way of saying I should stop working and go sew 😹
This is the biggest bag ever 😂
A good friend of mine asked if I could make her a tote for work. I asked what she carries, and she said “notebooks, a couple containers of food, a couple small pouches or bags, and small stuff like keys and sunglasses.”
She picked a fabric from my stash and I made it as big as I could.
How big? 23” wide by 19” tall. And yes, it fits a lot.
But you know what? These are the projects I love. When someone picks some rad fabrics and gives me an idea of what they need it for, and let me go to town. Putting my energy into something I know will get lots of use (and love) is my favorite part of sewing.
Stay tuned for a video on just exactly how much stuff fits in here 😂
How cute did this set come out? 😍
My brother requested the larger bag for his other half and helped me pick the fabric for her. I had enough left to make a little belt bag for her daughter too. So tickled how they came out.
And yes, the colors really are that bright. This is just the happiest, prettiest fabric.

I probably get more excited about this step than I should.
But I guess the kid in me will always love burning things 🤷♀️
Just about done with this bag. Can’t wait to share it! It’s so massive I just laugh every time I work on it. Seriously, it’s huge.
Finishing touches on this pretty little belt bag before it’s sent off as a Christmas present 🥰
I love rose gold. Love love love it. And this fabric was so fun to work with, I’ll have to buy lots more 😅

It’s impossible to have a bad day when I get to break into my Star Wars stash 😍🖤
It’s totally normal to stay up late organizing bag hardware with your cat, right?
…right? 😹
Jackalopes are one of my favorite mythical animals.
I feel like if you’re from Wyoming, they sort of have to be (they’re “from” Douglas, Wyoming, near where I grew up).
The funny thing is, I bought this fabric 4 years ago. I was mad at the time, as I meant to buy it in knit and accidentally got woven. But now, here we are, with the cutest little tote bag ever.
I am also a big fan of bright linings, and this red just went perfectly with the flowers in the print.
It was meant to be ♥️

Fabric is from (out of print now though 😭😭)
I’ve started forcing myself to do a pattern test run with old fabric from my stash before I use nice fabric. I know that’s like… sewing 101, but I have a hard time with the delayed gratification 😆
Anyway, made this little sling bag (sans sling, webbing is on order). Is it functional? Yes. Is it perfect? Noooooo.
But the one I made right after it with expensive fabric is!
Always learning, right?

If you were these fabrics, what would you be? 😍 I’ve been hoarding this panel forever. It’s too big for what I originally bought it for, but I’m determined to use it.
Not to mention this vinyl is amazing. I want to hoard it too but it deserves to be made into something cool.
I snagged this cute plane fabric in the Joann’s bargain bin this summer. At $3/yard there was no way I was passing it up!
Trying something new with it, since it’s a thin cotton but I think it would make a cute belt bag. I’ve heard good things about Odicoat so figured I would give it a whirl.
Fingers crossed this works out!
I won a serious game of chicken earlier 👀
How pretty is this fabric? 😍
I think I say it about every project, but this one will be hard to let go. It’s just so bright and cheerful! ☀️
About halfway done with this bag, and planning to make a small matching belt bag to go with it.
This guy 😂
He’s wanted nothing to do with this cat food for weeks now. But if I start using cans as a pattern weight he gets all upset about it.
If only he’d sit still, I could just use him instead 😁
I have been staring at this all day. I can’t believe I made something so pretty 😍
If you look past the topstitching, anyway. Lots of learning (and swearing) occurred there 😂
First time sewing vinyl was a success! Now I know what my machine can handle, and a couple tricks to refine for the next one.
Which is already cut out and ready to go 😁😁

Hardware: WAWAK Sewing Supplies
I have never used this rotary cutter. I got it as a set with the bigger one, but have never bothered to break it out.
Turns out it’s perfect for cutting out a zipper pocket 🌟
Excited how this bag is coming together ♥️
