Our fam has taken turns passing around the lovely Back-To-School germs the past two weeks, so I’ve been MIA for what feels like forever. Buuuut I’m finally back and itching to get back to the garden!!

I wasn’t able to refresh my beds yet (first thing on my list for this week 🙌🏻), buuuut we are overflowing with cucumbers and I was also able to harvest and shell some cowpeas. I just love garden activities (like shelling peas) that force you to slow down and rest a minute.

Refrigerator bread & butter pickles are SUPER EASY and totally DELICIOUS! No canning experience required and they are good in the fridge for up to a month 🙌🏻

When planting in the heat, make sure the soil stays moist throughout the day - which may mean watering in the morning and evening. To limit disease, water at the soil level and avoid splashing water onto the leaves.

It was finally a pesto day in the Roth house - and it was amazing! 🙌🏻

What are y’all cooking up from the garden this weekend?

How did your garden fare during the hurricane? I’ll admit - last week I was super-discouraged because almost all my tomato plants had cracked and were destroyed… an eggplant was completely uprooted…and everything looked pretty terrible.

But this week, my pumpkins sprouted, my pole beans reached the top of my new trellis (which withstood the storm 🙌🏻), my eggplant bounced back, my remaining cherry tomato plant started flowering again, and I even spied my first cantaloupe of the season.

So thankful that the Lord saw my sadness and brought forth so much joy and new life this week 🙌🏻 Thank you, Jesus, for bringing beauty from ashes time and time again!
