Washing fruits and vegetables with vinegar and baking soda can help remove bacteria, pesticides, and other residue:
Vinegar
Soaking fruits and vegetables in vinegar or a vinegar-water solution can reduce bacteria levels, but it won't kill all bacteria. Vinegar's acetic acid can also help remove pesticides. You can use distilled white or apple cider vinegar. To clean produce with vinegar, you can:
Add vinegar and water to a spray bottle.
Spray the produce in a bowl or container.
Let the vinegar sit for a few minutes.
Rinse the produce and pat dry.
Baking soda
Baking soda can remove pesticides, germs, and soil from produce. When mixed with water, baking soda creates an alkaline environment that breaks down pesticide compounds. You can also use baking soda to scrub firmer fruits and vegetables with a soft-bristle brush to remove dirt and wax. To clean produce with baking soda, you can:
Wash your hands with soap and water.
Add one teaspoon of baking soda to two cups of cold water in a bowl or container.
Soak the produce for 10–15 minutes.
Shake the produce around in the solution to evenly coat it.
Rinse the produce well.
Organic Apples from a growing Apple tree is amazingly sweeter than shopping for the apples in stores.
Water that pools in rain gardens nourishes the plants and filters into the soil. Rain gardens imitate natural filtering systems such as wetlands. You don't have to be an engineer to make a rain garden and the natural way is to collect the rain to water your garden.
The tomato is the edible berry of the plant Solanum lycopersicum, commonly known as the tomato plant. The species originated in western South America, Mexico, and Central America. The Nahuatl word tomatl gave rise to the Spanish word tomate, from which the English word tomato derives.
