Traditions have become so important to us. This is our third year of celebrating my birthday in Boston with the girls, and this year, we brought Pops! It's that time of year...

Where do I even begin...

So, on this day, 10 years ago, I fell into the deepest and darkest postpartum depression. I had just given birth to this beautiful soul pictured here 5 months earlier. But I started back at work full time, and on this day, I just lost it.

All the emotions: I'm working, so I'm a bad mom. My baby's in daycare, so I'm a bad mom. Other moms are pumping at work, and I'm giving my baby formula, so I'm a bad mom...and the list goes on. Looking back, I also had open house at school, and that was the first time I went an entire day without seeing her. Someone else put her to bed, and I was NOT okay with that.

The point is, even through all of this, I had support. I had (still have) an understanding and supportive husband, a great daycare, amazing friends, a mother-in-law who watched her 3 days a week...BUT, I still felt this way. It can happen to any of us.

I eventually broke down and asked for help. I called my doctor. I got on a treatment plan and was out of work for nearly a week. But I sought out that help i desperately needed. 10 years later, here we are. My sweet girl.

This is for anyone who needs to hear it because I know there's still a stigma out there when it comes to being a mom, expectations, mental health ❤ Check on those new mamas. Even if it's been a few months. And new mamas, it's okay to ask for help. You're a good mom and doing the best you can.
