Did you know that we provide on-the-job training, CPR/First Aid provided by Fire Medic Safety Solutions, NVCI/CPI Blue Card Training (We have 3 in-house trainers!), and we are able to provide student/Internships in most of our departments?! We have flexible scheduling options, including telehealth and in-person opportunities for therapist/counselors in both Clark and Madison counties.

๐ Important Heat Safety Tips for Older Adults ๐
As temperatures rise, it's crucial to ensure that our older community members stay safe and healthy. Here are some essential tips and resources to help older adults beat the heat:
Tips to Stay Cool:
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you donโt feel thirsty. Avoid alcohol and caffeine, as they can lead to dehydration.
Dress Appropriately: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing. Light-colored clothes can help keep you cool by reflecting the sunโs rays.
Limit Sun Exposure: Stay indoors during the hottest part of the day (10 AM to 4 PM). If you need to go outside, wear a wide-brimmed hat and use sunscreen.
Cool Your Environment: Use fans, air conditioning, or go to a cooling center. Keep blinds or curtains closed during the day to block out direct sunlight.
Check on Loved Ones: Regularly check in with older family members, friends, and neighbors to ensure they are staying cool and hydrated.
Eat Light: Avoid heavy meals and opt for lighter, more frequent snacks that are easier to digest and generate less body heat.
Recognize Heat-Related Illnesses: Be aware of the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Symptoms can include dizziness, nausea, headache, rapid heartbeat, and confusion. If you suspect someone is suffering from heat stroke, seek medical help immediately.
