AK-A : Legacy (Smythe Hernandez, Wurm, ST-1, Sleepy)

STORY TIME:

After Sleepy, Wurm, ST1, and myself completed the ASSASSINATION project, we were at a crossroads. Each seeing different directions individually and collectively from what AK-A opened for all of us. I remember when Sleepy came to me about recording some songs over beats produced by Ben Johnson. Not knowing where I was creatively I agreed, maybe Duke knew I needed a change after producing the aforementioned project. I agreed and this was one of 2 that we did. These were two of the last tracks we recorded together (the last one was a track recorded in Duke’s setup). It’s crazy hearing this all these years later. Recently I had given him a beat to record to and offered to release it under my Sublevel Entertainment and Media label. Things just kept coming up and many times Sleepy called apologizing for not getting the beat done. I always told him there was no rush and it would be done when the time was right. Right before he had passed I had been planning to figure out a way to have him come record at my studio here in Inglewood EDGE AUDIO Los Angeles and really let him experience the real studio. One day bro. I keep my assassin hat you gave me many nights when I’m at the studio. Thank you for what you showed me and trusted me with. Until we see each other again. “Music is OUR thang” guy
