Our new Summer in Strauss Park series kicks off this weekend with Dawn Weber & The Boogaloo Crew this Saturday, Aug 24 from 2–4 pm! The Boogaloo Crew is a new Latin project in St. Louis that is bringing a diverse group of musicians together for this fusion of American soul and traditional Latin music. The project's mission is to bring communities together through this fun and groovy genre. Pull up for this free event and get on your feet!

Renowned St. Louis-based pianist Adam Maness led a talented ensemble of St. Louis musicians to bring us a unique musical experience, recreating the iconic 1970 Miles Davis album Bi***es Brew for our Summer Spotlight STL Artist Series grand finale! These special sets featured Adam Maness on Wurlitzer, Kaleb Kirby on drums, Antonio Foster on Rhodes, Travis Lewis on guitar, Daniel H. Campbell on trumpet, Bob DeBoo on bass, Matthew Henry on percussion, and Kendrick Smith on reed.

Jazz St. Louis’ Education Associate Blake Mickens debuted his quintet last week! This talented group of musicians wowed the audience with a high-energy performance of original compositions, well-known jazz standards, and modern jazz deep cuts. Mickens was joined on stage with an all-star band comprised of Josiah Burton on trumpet, Ian Buschmann on saxophone, Antonio Foster on piano, and Cj Schrieber on drums!

Cuban Jazz Titans Paquito D'Rivera & Chucho Valdés To Perform Rare Two-Night Fundraiser in St. Louis - Latin Jazz Network Jazz St. Louis is thrilled to announce Jazz St. Louis Presents Paquito D'Rivera and Chucho Valdés, Together Again!, a two-night fundraising event featuring Cuban jazz legends Paquito D'Rivera and Chucho Valdés Sept. 18-19, 2024 in St. Louis.
Grammy-nominated music educator, saxophonist, and composer Harvey Lockhart visited us last week for an inspiring series of performances that captured his dedication to teaching, performing, and mentoring. The dynamic musician dazzled the audience with his powerful Sextet as they embarked on a musical journey experiencing Lockhart’s passion, musical prowess, and invaluable insights. He was accompanied on stage by Charlie Brown on piano, Delano Redmond on trumpet, Irvin Neal on drums, Kevin Ward on trombone, and Ben Wheeler on bass!

Jazz St. Louis is thrilled to announce a very special two-night fundraising event, Jazz St. Louis Presents Paquito D'Rivera and Chucho Valdés, Together Again! These rare benefit concerts feature Cuban jazz legends Paquito D'Rivera and Chucho Valdés and will take place at Steward Center, home of Jazz St. Louis, on September 18 and at The Sheldon on September 19!
Clarinetist, saxophonist, author, composer, and arranger D'Rivera and pianist, composer, and arranger Valdés first met in 1962. Both child prodigies and sons of musical families, the two worked together in Havana's Musical Theatre Orchestra and in the Cuban Orchestra of Modern Music.

Bassist Neal Caine brought the blues-infused essence of St. Louis to the club last week! This hometown performance celebrated Caine's latest album, Skip To My Lou, which was released earlier this year. Caine was joined by Taru Alexander on drums, Jerry Weldon on saxophone, and Andrew Fisher on piano.
