Good Morning!

Prickly pear tea!!!
Naturally sweet, cleansing and a nice change!

You can add 1 packet of stevia, agave or honey if you like your tea super sweet.

Recipe:
15 Prickly pear cactus pears (pealed)

Directions:
Pick you pears at the height of ripeness. At this stage most of the thorns (glochids) will be off, birds/bugs/animals will start eating more of them. Blanch in ice bath for 1 hour. This will help the rest of the glochids to fall off. Peel pears carefully, you may need to wear gloves for thorns and peeling. Blend pears for 10 seconds. Don't blend to long you only want the pears broken up. If you blend to long the seeds will stay with the syrup. Strain out juice/syrup. Stores safely in glass jar for one week as syrup. You can use in jelly, tea, lemonade, strawberry/pear pie, pear bread etc.

Tea directions:
Make non-flavored tea of choice. Pour in 1 cup syrup to 1 gallon tea. Mix thoroughly. Chill and drink. Makes 8 -12 oz servings. Will store like normal tea for 1-2 weeks depending on fridge chill settings.
