Local Company Making Home Automation The Norm At Lake

The home of the future has come to Lake Anna. One local company is offering home automation and finding Lake Anna residents very receptive.
Jose Suarez, 30, is from nearby Culpeper and joined the INI A/V team last year to help grow the team as Sales Manager.
“I’ve in been in the industry for six years now and have been a part of project designs ranging from single room solutions to automation of every electronic within a 50,000 sq ft residential property.”
The concept of home automation is simply a network of your home electronics all communicating with each other through a single platform. Imagine coming home, the garage opens- which triggers certain lights to come on and your favorite music begins playing-- this is a simple “mood” you could set to automate your arrival home. These “moods” that you may program are specific to your home and lifestyle, so every project is unique to the homeowner or business.
We asked Suarez why INI was finding Lake Anna such a good market.
“INI recognizes the growth at Lake Anna, with full time residency rising and new constructions/renovations, we believe we’re in prime position to aid the community with our services. The popularity of smart home technology continues to grow and our goal is to help guide those wanting to learn more about our industry.”
Suarez told Life & Times INI typically assists clients from the design phase through installation and service or various home automation platforms. The company’s goal is to work with our clients for life, whether for home or business- we look to provide complete solutions that can be managed easily.
“Common solutions in a lake home or local business range from automated window treatments and lighting, WiFi distribution, security and surveillance, audio and video distribution. All of those concepts can be easily controlled and programmed from mobile devices or tablets,” Suarez explained.
Suarez and INI did have to overcome a common technology gap at the lake – slow WiFi.
“We’ve recently deployed a reliable WiFi system at Lake Anna that offers speeds nearly 10x faster than current offerings. With the higher connection speeds available, we can offer more complex solutions that would have been impossible with the satellite internet speeds the Lake has had.”
With so many elaborate boathouse and docks INI is finding Lake Anna homeowners want automation on the water, too.
“Outdoor entertainment, security and surveillance are all commonly requested solutions for commercial or residential docks. We have installed overhead surveillance cameras viewing private slips, security sensors on dock storage and weather proof TV’s or speakers to entertain while spending time at the dock.”
Suarez told Life & Times that depending on the scale of the project, some finish in a two to three-day period, while some projects can take months. A consultation may only take an hour or two, while lead times on selected materials may be as short as two weeks to as long as six months for custom ordered solutions.
So how did Suarez first discover Lake Anna?
“I first remember visiting 11 years ago with family to open a food truck at Anna Point Marina. I was very fond of that period of time. The food truck was a wonderful first step into the entrepreneurial world. I’m looking forward to making more memories with all the great people who enjoy the lake.”
