We haven't been posting much. As you all know, summertime is busy! Especially, on a homestead. We have some rather large projects we are working on. Two of which are the Barbershop renovation and I have written a children's book. It's over at the illustrator as we speak.
We also just returned from a funeral in NM. It has me thinking about living life well and what that looks like. Man, God IS GOOD, isn't He? Whatever season you are in right now, be thankful for it, Friends. Every bit of it. Help others whenever you can and love on your people.

Brooke Michael (out of McPherson) did an amazing job listening to our needs and building us a chicken coop. If you are in the market for a new coop/tractor he is your guy!! Made from all recycled materials, his prices can't be beat! Our's has nesting boxes (accessible from the outside) and a cabinet for feed. He built the structure and then we painted it, did a burn finish on the rest, and added the metal roof. Brooke was amazing to work with, & kept us updated. When your sourdough breadsticks don't rise...you end up with pizza night!! Definitely one of the tastiest mistakes I've ever made. The rest of the dough was formed into dough balls, froze on a cookie sheet, and then stuck into a ziplock for pizzas in the future. Happy Sunday, Friends!🍕

I was talking about dog food the other day with a friend. I figured others could use this info because I know we all love our pups like family. Here's what I do because in all honesty we can't afford a raw diet for 2 Airedales. I take a high quality kibble, and add enough boiling water to cover the kibble. Dry dog food is horrible for your dog's kidneys. That's why A LOT die from kidney cancer. To that I always add ACV, spirulina powder, turmeric powder, some sort of fat, fruit (clearance at Dillons) and one of our hard boiled eggs. I recently added smelt fish (high in protein, good fats, and nutrients...also super cheap) from the Asian market, and when I see clearance meat scraps from Dillons, I always grab those. I try to keep that at less than a $1 a pound. I will cut it into bite size pieces, and freeze in sandwich bags. I serve once the food has absorbed all of the liquid. Hope this helps someone else! 🐕🖤

If you come into my kitchen you'll be met with vintage appliances, gadgets, and tools. You won't even see a modern coffee pot. I came across this delightful appliance last week (new with tags) and this morning made sourdough waffles with it. It's a keeper.

I'm adding the recipe for the English muffins because they are absolutely delightful. I did use cornmeal when I pan fried them and a wide mouth canning ring to cut them out. Hope this is helpful! Oh, and I made sure they reached a temp of 200 degrees.☕️

Out watering the buzz🐝buzzes🐝 and harvesting asparagus. I wish someone else in my house liked asparagus besides me!🤦🏼‍♀️

Today, I made crackers, tortillas, and English muffins with the sourdough discard from this week. I'm still trying to get the hang of making tortillas. If anyone has any pointers, I'm all ears! I let the dough rest (45 min this time) and roll them out with a rolling pin. The tortilla press makes the dough spring back.
