When art inspires art: Composer, George W. Chadwick wrote his symphonic poem ‘Angel of Death’ after seeing Daniel Chester French’s Milmore Memorial in the Chicago Art Museum. The piece was debuted by the New York Symphony Orchestra in February 1919. In a letter from the composer to French, he explains the composition “does represent, as far as tones may, what I saw and heard in your beautiful sculpture”
