Omari Joseph, a formidable 6'9" power forward and center, is rapidly making a name for himself in the world of professional basketball. Born on May 21, 2003, in Brooklyn, New York, Omari's journey from the bustling streets of Brooklyn to the professional courts is a testament to his dedication and talent.
Omari graduated from Veteran’s High School, where he honed his skills and developed a reputation as a dominant force on the court. His prowess earned him a spot at Voorhees University, where he continued to excel and showcase his remarkable abilities during the 2023 collegiate season.
In 2023, Omari took his talents to the American Basketball Association (ABA), joining the Stone Mountain Strong Steppers. His debut season (2023-2024) was nothing short of spectacular, as he demonstrated his exceptional skills, versatility, and leadership on the court.
The following year, Omari's journey led him to the Basketball League (TBL), where he played for the Wenatchee Bighorns under the guidance of Coach J.P. Davis. The 2025 season with the Bighorns further solidified his reputation as a rising star in the basketball world.
Now, Omari is back with the Stone Mountain Strong Steppers for the 2024-2025 season, reuniting with Coaches Jarrell Swann and Darrell Cole. With his return, Omari brings a wealth of experience, a winning mentality, and an unwavering determination to lead his team to new heights.
Omari Joseph's journey is marked by relentless hard work, exceptional talent, and an unyielding passion for the game. As he continues to make his mark in professional basketball, fans and teammates alike are excited to witness his future achievements and the electrifying impact he brings to every game.

Good morning! Say it back!

This week we celebrate Ms. Darnetta Tyus, who is truly the beating heart of our City government. As City Manager, she works closely with all departments to ensure they have the support and resources they need to give our city the services it deserves.

Darnetta has shown great responsibility and attention to detail in her vital work on our city’s budget and by filling key staff roles. She has exercised innovation by streamlining our City processes, including a measurable increase in the efficiency of processing times for permit issuance. She has demonstrated leadership by organizing a committee to encourage code compliance among six City departments. These improvements will have their impact for years to come, in hundreds of interactions between citizens and their City government. Such is the work of a city manager, requiring both attention to detail and big picture perspective, day-to-day management and long-term vision.

We have no doubt that Darnetta’s years in the Office of the Mayor of Washington DC government prepared her well to serve our city well. We are so glad that she chose to continue her career here in the City of Stone Mountain. We hope to benefit from her leadership, skills, and example for years to come.
