Merry Christmas to all!

12/21/2023

Big jump for this young lady!

She keeps on improving📈

But let’s take a minute and forget about the numbers and anything else you think matters, and think about boost of confidence she got from this.

That is more important than any jump she will ever do!

12/19/2023

Big PR’s from my 7th graders who have been training with me the last year.

Here’s Chase hitting 24.2”. Nearly a 5” increase since last year. That’s major!

We start back up following Christmas break! I have some space open so if you’re interested let’s get a space reserved for your kid!

12/18/2023

Middle school kids enjoy working out and I like to keep it that way!

Why ruin something that keeps them healthy and can be used as a mental outlet. To make them tougher or more disciplined?

🤬 that! That's the worst thing someone can do!

Let them make a positive relationship with working out so they don't grow to hate it later in life!

Just like these two 6th graders who get up before 6:00 am to come workout twice a week!

12/15/2023

Let me help your kids so they don’t make the mistakes I made!

What agility training looks like for middle schoolers

12/13/2023

Training is expensive, and so is a $38,000 knee surgery that occurred during sport.

I understand paying for training may be considered expensive to some, but you can’t consider it non-essential.

Especially if you have a daughter who plays sports, more specifically, sports that require high speeds and change of direction. Girls are 3x more likely to tear their ACL ($38,000 surgery) than boys. Which gender is less likely to participate in resistance training? Girls. Which gender needs it the most? Girls.

Forget about the performance benefits that come from training and start thinking about the long-term injury prevention and reduction effects training has!

Sports don’t teach your kid how to move properly. Focused movement (resistance training w/ proper supervision) teaches them how to move properly.

Loving these! Next drop is coming very soon🤩

Which is your favorite?🖤🤎

12/05/2023

Now that I’ve eaten enough to keep me full for weeks and gotten over a sickness (99.9% sure it was covid), I am ready to get back at it and helping others!

If you’re interest in training for yourself or for your young athlete, feel free to reach out!

11/20/2023

Make your kids do basic and fun athletic things now so learning more complex movements later will be easier!

All it does is teach them body awareness and gives them better control over their movements.

So when they get to high school, they don’t move like newborn giraffes 🦒

11/16/2023

I have 6 & 7th graders who are as strong AND move better than some high schoolers.

This isn’t by chance and no they aren’t freak athletes (yet). They’ve just spent more time getting to understand their bodies and moving well.

This is why I highly recommend not waiting to get your kids started with weight training. Start them now so in a year they will have achieved massive gains!

11/15/2023

If you forecasted an abundance of wealth coming in, would you wait for it to happen or start prepping for it?

That abundance of wealth is called puberty and the hormones that come along with it. Waiting until your child hits puberty before giving them strengthening sets them behind.

Why not let them prepare themselves? Let them learn to lift, sprint, jump, and develop good habits so they can take full advantage of that abundance of wealth when it comes!

Picture from Tony Villani’s presentation this past weekend.

It represents the ever-changing ideas of how to train an athlete.

Sadly, some coaches still live in the 80’s when it comes to working with athletes.

I’ve made it a mission of mine to stay up-to-date with what works best, which allows me to be as efficient as possible. The less an athlete has to work to improve, the better!

This keeps them fresh and keeps training enjoyable!

11/13/2023

Strength is the foundation to all athletic movement!
The sooner the foundation is built, the sooner you can build on top of it!

Photos from Athletically Pleasing's post 11/12/2023

This weekend I got to learn from Toni Villani, a coach who’s helped college athletes have the best performances in the History of the NFL Combine and worked with some Hall of Fame NFL players throughout their careers.

I also got to hear from Dan Fichter. A coach challenges the way we think about our speed and strength training and how we can incorporate neurology into it to get rid of pain and compensation patterns that help lead to better performances.

Now my brain hurts🥵🤯 but I’m ready to start implementing some new things!

11/10/2023

Whether a kid is able to follow directions will determine if they are ready for strength training.

But if a kid struggles with following directions (12 years and younger), it doesn’t mean they can’t start. They just need individual attention so a 1-on-1 or small group session would be most appropriate and allow them to start training.

11/08/2023

I don’t actually believe this, but it doesn’t change the fact that your child athlete is at a higher risk of getting injured if they are weak (relative to their body weight).

The 2 worst things for a parent and a child to experience are:

1. An injury from a sport
2. Riding the bench

These 2 things will drive your kid away from a sport they loved and could have been great at.

Getting stronger will help with both of those issues!

11/08/2023

This is why it’s important to start weight training as early as possible👇🏼

Ethan 🥷🏻 and Brenden 🦸🏻‍♂️ are as fast as each other.

They got lined up to race 80 yards

But I place Ethan 🥷🏻 10 yards in front of Brenden 🦸🏻‍♂️ at the start.

Who’s winning? Duh. Ethan is 🥷🏻 because he had a start.

If a kid starts weight training before his equals, he will have that head start because:

1: He will know how to move properly
2. His body will be adapted to lifting and lifting heavy
3: He won’t have to waste his best years learning to lift

Give your kids a head start and get them lifting as soon as possible!

11/05/2023

Kids who become physically stronger become stronger in other capacities as well.

They become more confident, more disciplined, and more resilient throughout the process of getting stronger.

So now they aren’t just performing better in their sport, they’re also performing better in life!

11/05/2023

Now holding Zumba classes.. 😂

Jk, but if you do want your kids to get stronger sign them up for training!

11/04/2023

Anybody can work with a kid and make them stronger.

It's what you do once they're strong that separates the good from the bad coaching.

Had a special visitor from the high school come down to the the gym today! Edgar is interested in exercising and asked to come down to see what it would be like being a trainer/coach.

Helping the youth in more ways than one!

PARENTS you don't need to settle with the body/health you have!

You can LOOK more athletic and FEEL more athletic!

This morning, Sara hit RDLs with 175 pounds for 5 reps.

A year ago, this was her max weight for 1 rep.

She is doing things she didn't know she was capable of, and you can too, if you put the work in!

10/28/2023

A major improvement came in just one year of training!

Chase improved his vertical jump by nearly 7”

These improvements come from different factors:
•growth related
•physiological adaptations
•skill acquisition
•increased strength

Whatever led to this impressive increase, doesn't take away from all the hard work Chase had to put in!

10/27/2023

This applies to every sport.

If your child is relatively weak, they are at a higher risk of injury.

Improving their strength isn’t optional, it is something they must do.

They need to be able to move and control their bodies against external forces (weights or other people).

If they can’t handle this external force, their body will fail resulting in injury. Injured athletes have a habit of prematurely giving up on a sport. A sport they could have possibly been successful in!

Basically, GET YOUR KIDS STRONGER!

It’s that time again!
Due date: November 3
First session: November 12

10/24/2023

Weightlifting is a life skill.

Signing your kid up for training while they are young will not only help their performance 📈 but also help keep them healthy later in life.

My biggest thing is building a healthy relationship with exercising.

I never want my kids to hate working out. It should be something they look forward to because it's a chance to work on yourself

Teaching them this and building the foundation early in life will carry over to adulthood and aid in keeping them healthy!

(Just a freshman who doesn't skip leg day and busted through shorts during squats) 👇🏼

10/22/2023

Athleticism is what separates the bad from good athletes. And sometimes the good from the great.

The good news is that athleticism is attainable and can be achieved through training.

But it takes time and a lot of effort. Athletes & PARENTS have to commit to the process.

12-18 y/o don’t understand the commitment needed to become a better athlete, so parents need to be there to support and encourage them.

If you can support them through this process, they will come out better than before!

10/20/2023

Weight training is often the missing 🧩 piece to performance.

An athlete may have the skills to excel in their sport, if they are getting pushed around, or they're a step too late they won't get to use those skills.

Help them take advantage of the weight room so they can succeed in their sport!

One day or day one

Plant the seed now and watch it grow! 10/18/2023

Planted the seed early with these two. Now they are committed to their progress!
